Ci vediamo a Winterland Ascona! ✨

When the hotel is the destination 😍

Ad | In partnership with @castello_ascona

We spent a few nights at the Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss in Ascona, and it might be one of the most romantic places we’ve ever stayed ♥️

🏰 History
• Built around 1250, so this castle is over 750 years old!
• Owned by the same family for 400 years before it changed hands
• By the early 1900s it was drawing artists and intellectuals to Ascona as a private residence
• Became a hotel in the early 20th century and has been welcoming guests ever since

🗝️ The property
• Boutique hotel with 45 rooms, and every single one is individually designed — no two alike
• We stayed in a Tower Room, with frescoed ceilings, a balcony over the lake, and our own private patio
• A heated outdoor pool tucked into the Mediterranean garden
• Lush garden terraces and a peaceful courtyard connecting the castle’s separate buildings
• Rooftop views over the lake, perfect for a private aperitivo at sunset

🍽️ Dining
• Breakfast is included and served with sweeping lake views — a huge buffet with fresh eggs made to order, salads, and homemade cakes
• Ristorante al Lago sits in the castle’s lakeside garden, right on Ascona’s piazza
• We had a three course vegetarian tasting menu and it might be one of the best meals of the trip
• There’s also a rooftop for private aperitivo at sunset, overlooking the lake (book this experience directly with the hotel)

📍 Location
• Right on the Lungolago, Ascona’s lakefront promenade, at the edge of the car-free piazza
• Steps from the Borgo old town and a short walk to everything in Ascona
• Views over Lake Maggiore and the Brissago Islands from the hotel garden and many of the rooms

📌 Save this for your next Switzerland trip and send to the person you want to stay here with

Spent one of our favorite days in Switzerland exploring Ticino with a real 13th century castle right on Lake Maggiore as our home base 🤯😍

🏰 The stay: Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss — Ascona
• 13th century castle, boutique hotel — every room is different
• We stayed in a tower room with frescoed ceilings, a balcony over the lake, and our own private patio
• Dreamy onsite pool for a refreshing dip
• Private aperitivo on the castle rooftop at golden hour
• Dinner at their lakefront restaurant, Ristorante al Lago — the vegetarian tasting menu was incredible

🇮🇹 A little about Ticino
• Switzerland’s southernmost, Italian-speaking canton
• Palm trees, lake towns, and a slower pace that feels more like Italy than Switzerland
• Home to some of the most dramatic valleys in the country, just a short drive from the lakes

📍 What to do in the Ticino area:
🚤 Ascona
• Stroll the Lungolago promenade right along Lake Maggiore
• Get lost in the alleys of Borgo old town
• Take a boat over to the Brissago Islands for their botanical garden

🚡 Locarno
• Piazza Grande for people watching
• Funicular up to Orselina and visit the Madonna del Sasso monastery church
• Cable car to Cardada, then take the vintage side-facing chairlift up to Cimetta for views over the whole lake

🏞️ Verzasca valley
• Walk the iconic arched bridge in Lavertezzo
• Wander through Sonogno, the last village in the valley and one of the biggest hidden gems of the trip

💧 Bavona valley
• Visit Foroglio waterfall
• Grab lunch in the tiny village of San Carlo
• Take the Robiei cable car for views over the whole valley

📅 Best time to visit
• Late spring through early fall (May–September)
• July and August are warmest but busiest, especially in the valleys
• Late May, June, or September gets you the same views with fewer crowds

🚗 Getting there
• ~2.5 hours by car or train from Zurich
• ~2 hours from Milan if you’re coming from northern Italy

📌 Save this for your Ticino itinerary and one of the most romantic hotel stays you’ll have
