Honestly, it’s been really hard for me to get an opportunity to shoot fashion / fashion editorial because in this industry, if you want to shoot any other category than what you’re known for, people often don’t think you can do it or aren’t interested in finding out if you can - even if you have a body of work as expansive as I have. These images are a culmination of over a year of industry outreach and only getting rejection or non-response. This is not a “woe is me”. This is just the reality of what it’s like to be a working artist. Even if you’ve “made it”, you’re still often put into a box or a category that can be hard to deviate from - even if it’s not by your own choice. I’m really proud of this work. I’ve always known that if I could just get a shot, that I would more than deliver. That’s why I’m super grateful to @madamefigarofr @delphine.perroy.mad @gwenola_couedel_mad and @lejenke for believing in my work, my vision, and my capability. @gilone__ , @shanice.a.sloan, and @mounia_nassangar x Me. I’m totally in love with my new cover story with @madamefigarofr. I’ve really been pushing myself creatively and being more intentional about the kind of work that I’m making. This new work is a strong representation of that intentionality. It’s a dance story, with a group of eight extremely talented French dancers - and it’s also a fashion story. I’ve wanted to shoot more fashion, so I’m really grateful to Madame Figaro for envisioning what I’m capable of. Shooting this in Paris was a dream come true.
