This Sunday, we stepped into the water together and publicly surrendered our lives to Christ our Savior.

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4

Tori and I were both baptized when we were younger, but this was something we wanted to do together as adults, fully understanding the decision we were making and consciously professing our faith in Jesus Christ.

Over the past year, our faith has grown in ways that are difficult to put into words. We have spent more time in Scripture, more time praying together, more time talking about God as a family, and more time asking ourselves whether the way we live actually reflects the faith we say we have.

That is what made today so important to us. Baptism is more than stepping into water. For us, it was a public declaration that our lives belong to Christ, a surrender of who we were, who we are, and everything still ahead of us.

Jesus tells us repeatedly to be ready. The parable of the ten virgins reminds us that faith cannot simply be something we claim. We have to know Him, follow Him, and live prepared for the day we stand before Him. And this is the hard truth for me personally: I never want to hear Jesus say, “I do not know you.”

We do not want to simply call ourselves Christians. We want our lives to show that we know Christ, and today was another step in that journey.

Have you made your faith something you simply believe, or something you are truly living?

The image reflects Romans 6:4 and the symbolism of baptism as dying to the old life and being raised to walk in new life with Christ. Their baptism represents a conscious public profession of faith, surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior, spiritual renewal, and a shared commitment to live out their faith together as husband and wife.

God did something powerful IN US this week that I believe is going to fuel what He wants to do THROUGH US in the days ahead. We’ve had an incredible few days at @churchleadershq at Church of Eleven22—learning, worshiping, dreaming, laughing, and being challenged together.
I love what I get to do and I love the people I get to do it with. So grateful for my brother @jobypmartin and the amazing COE22 Family. They are such a huge blessing to us and the Kingdom.

FOR THE ONE MORE. @catalystpeople @churchleadershq
