one more Italy post, for good measure! i was a bit more emotional than i expected to leave Parma last week!! during my Italian May, i tried to go in most of the churches i came across— which was quite a few, it being Italy and all. and i never really feel like i know what/how to pray. but in these sacred, usually smelly old buildings, i always found myself coming back to the serenity prayer:

grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change, the courage to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

i’m not sure why exactly, perhaps it was my repeated petition, but this was one of the most peaceful months of my life!!! maybe it was just the Italian way that took over me, but i’m feeling so full (figuratively AND literally (re: Italian food!!!)) and i can’t wait to find myself in Italy again someday. andiamo 💟

tried to order dinner here the other day and it turns out it was just a tray of parmesan cheese 😁 and you know what, i did eat almost all of it still!! only a few more days in Italy and i’m feeling very preemptively nostalgic. let me stay forEVER
