CURRENTS 2024 @ El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe
“La Solitudine delle Moltitudini” (Immersive video installation and electroacoustic cantata for 16 female voices on fixed media (2023-24) - soprano and lyrics: Júlia Coelho) is an immersive room audio-visual installation (three channel video, binaural audio on headphones) binaural audio on headphones to create an immersive and emotional space for the visitors in a closed room. “La Solitudine delle Moltitudini” is a metaphor of our increasingly interconnected world, where data and information shape our perception of self. This ecosystem is represented both graphically and musically, by graphs and networks, that provide the main visual material and are at the foundation of the generative musical score.
All the networks are generated using real data and are the results of scientific investigations in the BarabasiLab.” @currentsmedia

Our work in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil at theFuturos - Arte e Tecnologia Museum @futuros.artetecnologia, part of the @existencianumerica exhibit curated by @barbaracastro @doriskos @luizludwig.

It is said that the artist uses the technologies of their time. In the realm of art that employs
data as both its material and subject of its pieces, the anguish and triumphs of contemporary
society are inseparable from its creation. We find ourselves in a planet in constraint while
contending not only with threats – ranging from viruses to wars – but also facing the doubt
about our own continuity, stemming from the reckless use of vital natural resources. Climate
change, questions of identity and the valorization of science stand among of the prominent
themes to be explored within the forthcoming exhibition titled Futuros – Artes e
Techonologia (Futures – Art and Technology). Emergencies form these knots tightening
around us, evoking a sense of urgency in response to life-threatening situations. Yet, within
this urgency lies the promise of new pathways and practices, signaling the onset of
transformations.

In a world where fake news cast long, ominous shadows, truth and evidence became volatile, expertise a questioned entity. “Fake News Apostles” is an endeavor to unravel the invisible threads weaving the insidious tapestry of misinformation, particularly poignant during the COVID vaccine rollout.

Armed with data from over 200,000 Twitter users, we didn’t just quantify fake news; we mapped its journey, tracing its insidious whisper from echo to echo, user to user. Amidst this web, 12 individuals stood out - the Fake News Apostles, their voices amplified by the volatile chorus of misinformation.

In 2022, with the help of @daria_draw_things, I build 12 rollers intricately tied to the fake news narrative.
Designed for the Ludwig Museum “I AM NOT A ROBOT: ON THE BORDERS OF THE SINGULARITY,” exhibit, each roller is rooted in the meticulous data of the Fake News Observatory led by David Lazer at the @nunetsi, the Network Science Institute in Boston, my intellectual home.

So for the 2023 summer project, I brught the 12 Fake News Rollers with me. Eeach roller is not just a tool but a storyteller, each stroke on the canvas a narrative of the intricate dance between misinformation and truth, echoing the silent yet potent reverberations of fake news in the digital ether. 🕸🎨 #FakeNewsApostles #ArtMeetsData
