For fifty years, the Beall family has nurtured and cared for this special place. What Blackberry Farm, and now Blackberry Mountain, have become has never been the work of one person, but the shared love of an entire family. Alongside the Blackberry team, our guests, our neighbors, and the makers who share our table, we are always wowed by the magic that is made here. So it means the world to see that story celebrated in @cherrybombe, alongside Blackberry Fifty, the book we made to honor these first fifty years. This feature is especially close to my heart because years ago, in the hardest season our family has known with Sam’s passing, Catherine Baker was part of our home. She helped care for our children (and me). She kept our household steady when we needed it most. She was family then, and still is. Today she is Managing Editor of Cherry Bombe, and seeing her help bring our family’s story to its pages is a joy I can hardly put into words. Catherine, we are so proud of you. Sam would be too. Thank you to Romilly Newman, a longtime friend of Blackberry, for our thoughtful conversation and for telling our story with such care. A little behind the scenes from shooting one of Cherry Bombe’s latest magazine covers in Las Vegas. Chef Gabriela Camara (@gabrielacamara), architect Frida Escobedo (@fridaescobedo), and Bertha Gonzales (@berthagonzalezn ) of @casadragones, were photographed at the beautiful Fontainebleau ahead of their opening of restaurant Cantina Contramar. A special cover for a lot of reasons, including that it also became @cherrybombe first-ever digital cover. Our daughter, @lilygu3 has cultivated/manifested/worked-her-ass-off to create an amazing career. While she’s on hiatus from Saturday Night Live this summer, she’s working at her OTHER dream job - writing for her favorite magazine, @cherrybombe 🍒 Supporting women and uplifting their restaurants. We got to be a part of one of their tastings/book launches tonight. We were totally moved and inspired! It was a mosh pit of goodness and we loved every minute!! My best bite in L.A.? It was a cheesecake, I’m shocked to say. (I don’t think anyone associates L.A. with cheesecake, but correct me if I’m wrong.) It was the Camembert Cheesecake at @littlefish_melrosehill, a lovely spot specializing in fish (not cheesecake). The ethereal texture was more like a fully baked Basque than New York style and we almost skipped it, but our server was very persuasive. Little Fish’s Chef @anna_sonenshein is on the @cherrybombe Power List this year and she’s such a star. She and her team have created a lovely chill place to eat and hang out and I can’t wait to visit again. Scroll thru for the savory dishes and wines we tried.
