☕ Maternity leave, one cup at a time.

Passing through Shrewsbury had to have a little pit stop at The Cat's Pyjamas

A lovely coffee, a very generous plate (The BELLTA) of avocado toast with bacon and eggs, and a little café companion who was quite happy with her own eggs and drink.

Not a bad way to refuel before driving on!

At the Cat's, Shrewsbury Friday morning 16th October 2026 enjoying a coffee and doing some observational art. Loving seeing and catching ideas and finding ways to express that balance, harmony. peace and unity of the universe in painting.🙀 🙀 🙀

£6.00. The amazing colourist, Pierre Bonnard and his influences. What a super-star.

The strong motif of the waitress on the left of the painting, preparing a coffee, looks as though she is over-looking the whole scene....I suppose just as she would do on any usual shift.
This is a watercolour on-location study made in Shrewsbury over 2 days, Thursday 24th September and Friday 25th September 2026 at 2 of my 3 fav cafes. This is quite powerful as some bits just sailed and others were a really big muddle at times.
Funny how the couple of sketches made afterwards in the wind-down seemed so effortless.
Nice song to go with it too by Sienna Spiro, 'Expectations,' as painting makes you feel so alive but as it lets you in, it will never let you have total control....it is always just out of reach. I love it to bits!!!!!💏 ☺

Pith Lay-Flat Sketchbooks.
My first sketchbook was bought for me as a birthday present from dear, Annie earlier this year and these books have changed my life.
They lay flat with ease allowing me to compose an image over 1 or 2 pages, have 200gsm paper and off-white pages. Heaven !!!!
