Spent yesterday at the PNW Miniature Show in Rip City with our American host family, shared many local customs (such as buying tiny things we don’t actually need). 🏠
A few early pics from the floor. More to come.
Swipe to the end and tell us which one you’d take home.

Nobody asked me to write the afterword for Devon Rodriguez’s memoir. I’m saying that up front, mostly so his publisher’s lawyers can relax.

Cat and I met @devonrodriguezart at his reading at Powell’s in Portland, and then his day ones, @albertcollado__ and @kevin.a.franco . Three young men who asked two middle-aged women about their lives, and actually listened.

I went home and wrote the afterword anyway. It’s about the adults who show up for a kid, why I trust a memoir that doesn’t make things prettier than they were, and my mother, a fourth-grade teacher who wrote down what children said, word for word.

Read his book. Then read my mother’s. Then write down something a kid says this week, and don’t fix it.

Full essay, free, link in bio.

#WorkInProgress #DevonRodriguez #memoir #resilience #psychiatry Nobody asked me to write the afterword for Devon Rodriguez’s memoir. I wrote one anyway. A psychiatrist’s unsolicited afterword. Below, a photo in a bar with purple walls: Devon Rodriguez, his photographer Albert, his manager Kevin, and my wife Cat, smiling around a wooden table with drinks.
