How does an ordinary person become a political troll?

Harshad Nalawade’s Follower gets inside the making of radicalisation, where frustration, identity and everyday alienation slowly turn into something much darker.

A sharp, deeply human look at the politics of belonging, and the dangerous ease with which hate can become a habit.

Watch Follower on Brew. This week’s Film of the Week. Link in bio.

@harshadnalawade20 's "Follower" now streaming on @mubiindia .

One of the most important films to come out of India in the last two to three years is @harshadnalawade20 's "Follower"

Set in the conflicted borderland between Maharashtra and Karnataka, in the city of Belgaum, the film explores the radicalisation of youth in contemporary India.

At its core, Follower traces the making of a troll viewed from the troll's own perspective revealing just how vulnerable individuals can be, and how easily they can be drawn into the machinery of political fundamentalism. It's a deeply unsettling and urgently relevant film for the times we live in.
