A new commissions recently finished. Very pleased with the composition and balance. Receiving a commission is a relatively new thing for me and is not only appreciated, it’s gratifying to know your doing the right thing……I’ve come to realise that getting and completing a commission is a different experience to producing work in preparation to a show. Both are great, however with the commissions, the work begins after the initial flourish of gaining the job; whereas the building up a collection ready to show, the work is at the start and then, possibly a sale celebration…..🎉. This may seem obvious, but a new experiences for me…. Thanks for reading and viewing

Here’s further information about leprosy
1 it is caused by mycobacterium leprae
2 It is mildly contagious and yes 95% of us are immune to the disease.
3 Transmission of the disease occurs via droplets from nose and mouth following prolonged, close contact with a carrier.
4 Incubation period is 5-20 years
5 It is curable using multigrug therapy (MDT) which usually involves a course of three antibiotics for 6 - 12 months depending on the severity of the disease. Early diagnosis and treatment prevents disabilities. Once the regime has commence the recipient is no longer contagious.
6 The majority of the people we treat have severe deformities and disabilities due to late diagnosis and further inflammatory reactions to the dead bacteria which remain in the tissues for many years. These reactions cause further muscle weakness, pain, sensory loss and skin lesions.

Everyone who visited, chatted, said lovely things about my work, and bought pieces - THANK YOU! It means a lot to a largely self taught artist who makes things that make her happy.

The hare skull display I've been working on this weekend is finished. Just waiting for the glue to dry and then it can go into the glass case you can see behind it.

Luna is ready to meet visitors to Venue 14 on Caversham Arts Trail and I'm busy making some more curio jars before we open at 11am. I'll be working on a hare skull display case and a haunted house dome throughout the day.
