Took a wrong turn at the 7C junction, tripped on a shoelace, and ended up in the mountains - whoops! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Who do you want to spend an August ✨ 2026 ✨ weekend in the alpine with? Shout em out below and put a date on the calendar now!

Super grateful for @juliahatch1 and @caylainthecurrent for taking a few moments of time from their hectic schedules for this backyard trip.

Whether an outdoor seasonal, small business owner, 9-5er, or anywhere in between, the quality of our relationships often has a large impact on our lives. My outdoor seasonal summers got immeasurably better when I started protecting small pockets of time for my loved ones - even if it meant giving up a day or two of work or going back into work a little tired.

The one and only tip here? Put dates on your calendar EARLY. It’s always easier to cancel or shift than it is to find time once the summer is already packed full.

And while certainly not an option for every outdoor role, the small moments matter! Even a phone call or text can go a long way in sustaining connections beyond your outdoor work. If and when it’s time to leave outdoor work, having a solid and wide ranging social life makes the switch a lot easier.

👋 My name is Emerald, and I’m an outdoor guide turned program manager.

🏕️ I help you find employment that honors your passion for the outdoors while also offering stability and growth.

Salmon, Idaho’s FIRST annual Pride Celebration 🌈

We wanted this day to be relentlessly community-first and safe for our attendees, so kept our planning close to our chest. And now that we’re through I can say loud and wide - I am so damn PROUD of these friends and neighbors who made this day a success.

Big thanks to:

@dylan.t.brewer / @salmonsfunspot for showing us what “Salmon born and raised” can mean

@la.osera.idaho for the beautiful catering

@b.e.r.c.k.i.e for tie dye, fire flow, and planning

@sarasaurusvexed for leadership and planning

@sturdypinegear for raffle and being one of Salmon’s first out and proud businesses

@caylainthecurrent / @landieloo for face painting and glitter

@soapnotcandy / Jason for the AV and badass dance party

@beaverheadgearexchange for their support

@tomwheeler266 for chatting pride strategies in red spaces

And every single person and business pictured (and not) who attended and supported. Wave hello in the comments! Omission is the fault of my chaos brain alone!

Five years ago if you had told me we would host a public pride event in Salmon, I would’ve cringed. While the event itself only took a few months to plan, the relationships and care that underpinned it represent half a decade of intentional building. We didn’t do this on a whim and it paid off.

For anyone in a small and/or conservative place who wants to host a pride, I am always happy to chat!

Happy Pride month, stay safe out there, and stay tuned for year two… 🫶
