When I was a little girl, I used to spend hours playing “shop” in our garage. I’d pull out my clothes, hang them on whatever I could find, arrange everything like it was my own little store, and pretend people were coming to shop the pieces I picked out. I didn’t know what PR was. I didn’t know what brand partnerships were. I didn’t know that one day I’d get to work with a company like Dillard’s. I just knew I loved clothes. I loved the way they let me become whoever I wanted to be. I loved putting things together that other people might not have chosen. I loved being different before I ever learned that the world would spend so much time trying to convince us not to be. I’m 24 now, and I think one of the things I’m most proud of is that I never stopped listening to that little girl. Growing up has a funny way of making us question the things we once loved without explanation. We start wondering if they’re practical enough, impressive enough, or if everyone else will understand them. But maybe the answer was never supposed to be that complicated. Sometimes you just have to ask yourself: Would little you be proud of the life you’re creating? And I know mine would be. She’d probably lose her mind if I told her that one day, the clothes wouldn’t be hanging in our garage anymore. 🤍 Dillard’s, thank you for giving that little girl a chance to live out a piece of her dream and for giving me a space to express the part of myself I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. And ZTA, it was such a privilege getting to share some of our favorite pieces with you. 🤍 @dillards @dillardscampuscollective #dillards #dillardscampuscollective
