ARCHIVE No.010 THE RETURN OF THE FORGOTTEN DOCUMENTATION RECOVERED: In the hours following activation, the first isolated forms were joined by a continuous stream of Progenitors. They did not emerge in disorder. Smaller creatures spread into the surrounding ground while larger forms remained near the Vertebral Gate. The Cerebrant continued operating the mechanisms at its base as the passage remained open. Sekhaton once gathered around the site as pilgrims now moved alongside the returned Progenitors. Excavations began around nearby ruins and buried structures. Similar activity was soon reported farther north. The Progenitors were not entering an unknown world. They were returning to one they still recognised. Observation was terminated when the number of emerging forms made continued surveillance impossible. By the time the last record was recovered, the site could no longer be considered an isolated manifestation. Something forgotten had returned to southern Akhaemia. And it had already begun to spread. Observation concluded. NOTE: This is the 10th ARCHIVE, and I wanted to make this one a little more special. For the past week I have been working on this diorama as a single complete scene with it's own story. The portal was probably the most experimental part. I wanted it to feel less like an ordinary magical gateway and more like a heavy organic mass, using layered PVA+UHU and UV resin to build the surface and the membranes around the creatures still emerging from it. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has joined me through these first ten records. Seeing more people follow, comment, share ideas and become part of the ARCHIVE has meant a lot. Ten entries in, and this still feels like the beginning. ARCHIVE No.002 THE FALSE BLESSING DOCUMENTATION RECOVERED: The subject was found at the center of a crude wilderness shrine, surrounded by offerings, broken timber, and remains marked with unfamiliar symbols. Its own eyes were sealed. The others remained open. No evidence suggested that the victims had been hunted or dragged to the site. The paths through the surrounding wilds had been worn by repeated approach. Where the subject settles, life multiplies without restraint. Animals breed outside their natural season. Crops swell beyond harvest. Prayers for fertility are answered, though rarely in the form intended. The subject does not pursue. It waits to be asked. NOTES: This one was probably my most experimental project so far. The moment I saw the August release, The Children of Baphomet by @bestiarum.games, I became so inspired by the collection that I started constructing the base before I had even received the file to print. This was my first attempt at creating a fully custom base. Inspired by the environmental style of @grimdark_compendium, I built it using cork, wooden branches, stones, ice cream sticks, tile grout, and Citadel technical terrain paints. I wanted the ground to feel less like a display base and more like a crude shrine that had slowly formed around the creature. For the banner at the back, I tried a small amount of freehand, painting a rough goat skull and adding Futhark-inspired symbols based on markings used across other sculpts from the same collection. This was also my first attempt at painting cataract-like eyes. I tried to blur the pupils beneath a cloudy surface and added irritation and broken redness around them. They did not come out exactly as I imagined and definitely require more practice, but every new technique has to begin with an imperfect first attempt. ARCHIVE No.003 A HYMN TO THE FRUIT DOCUMENTATION RECOVERED: The subject travelled between isolated settlements, announcing its arrival with the strike of a gilded gong. It offered the Crimson Fruit as relief from hunger, sickness, and despair. Those who accepted it soon joined the procession willingly. The horse beneath the subject showed severe signs of starvation, yet repeatedly refused the fruit. Congregation response: devoted. Mount response: resistant. NOTES: This was one of those projects I believed was finished until I saw it properly through the camera. After the first photographs, I returned to the cloak. The original red looked too clean and too uniform beside the rest of the miniature, so I dulled it down and added uneven staining, grime, fading, and wear. I wanted the fabric to feel old, heavy, and repeatedly dragged through dirt rather than like a freshly painted ceremonial garment. I also pushed the skin slightly further with a slight layer of super glue for a gloss finish. The intention was to separate the swollen flesh from the dry fabric, tarnished bronze, bone, rope, and exhausted horse. The slight wetness made the body feel more unhealthy and physically uncomfortable. The miniature became largely an exercise in balancing competing textures while keeping them inside the same muted grimdark palette. The crimson vestments and gilded details still needed to draw attention, but without appearing clean or untouched by the corruption surrounding them. -A mere five days have passed and the felled visceral remains of Scavengers and Medicae-troops alike remain in undying stasis as pheromones from the mutants exude from their ever-rupturing flesh. Feral and violent as they are - these specimens which we released merely for data retrieval on the Tribes of the Black Canyons beneath our Hemotech Cathedral - they now seem to have found equilibrium. Balance. A concerning place amongst the Scavengers as worshipped beasts of the land. A mere five days. We fear further exposure to the low lands and its chemical fog will push their evolution beyond our projected, and acceptable, risk evaluations. Progress on our genetic eradication unit is near complete. We must finalise its incinerating capabilities and flight mode-“ “Sir, reports show large numbers of Scavengers and waste-walkers making their way up the slopes. “Behind the Hemotech Cathedral, beyond winding disposal pipelines that carry failures and discarded material, a slope resting between the thighs of a fissure in the soils of the Waste-Scapes. The facility above ejects three experiments into the lands below - not as failures, but as evaluations. How will the scavenger clans of the black canyons deal with these abominations, these mutants made of decay and man. Let us keep a close eye on it for the 6 days….” Whats up folks! It’s time for a “return to form” as I took this model, and the next 2, as a chance to apply techniques such as Oil Pencil veins, multi layer skin work using my PVA Layering technique as well as my PVA Flesh Peel Technique on “regular size models” as I’ve had some questions over the last year if all these techniques I use actually work on standard tabletop size. Well, It does, of course using such tech techniques on a face, or single arm of say a Space Marine may not be “worth it” but it’s definitely still possible. Over the next 6 days I will post one of the Three Mutant Test Subjects every day at 18:00 CEST Cycling as such: 1 reel with small lore, and 1 (close up) photo post with recipe and technique details. X3 This reminded me my initial Test Subjects series last March-2025 which perhaps not my best works; but they laid the foundation back then for all these PVA techniques! These are NOT my models! Well, they kind of are because they were given to me, but I didn't sculpt them :) 🎁 My former colleagues from the 3D Art team at Efecto Studios modeled these dinosaurs for me! Thanks to the world's coolest 3D team, I'm going to miss you guys so much! It was a beautiful surprise, I didn't expect it, but the best gift is that you all finished a challenge without me putting any pressure on you 😅 I know some of you since you were my students, and it hurts a lot to have to say goodbye after all these years of learning together and friendship.
