I returned to my beloved Chattanooga Boys Choir after six years. In 2020, my last term as artistic intern with CBC was interrupted by the covid outbreak in March. I never had a chance to say goodbye to my boys.

Six years later, the little sopranos and altos I worked with are now tenors and basses, eldest among them almost graduating college while the youngest are finishing their last summer at CBC before heading off to college. I wish I could have returned earlier, but I am so grateful that I can at least catch the last few this time. It meant a lot to see the most *energetic* boy sitting in the front years ago turn into mentor and leader of the small one right now.

And those are the new ones who I hadn’t know; I got five days to know more and more about these little souls and then had to say good bye. These past five days are dense, intensive, yet rich and fulfilling. I saw them learn new things, jump up and down, make friends and help others, challenge themselves, stuck and struggle but preserve through one theory practice. I was growing them, and they were healing me.

The castle I built years ago is growing into something bigger, and I know theirs would too.

And to end my birthday, I am dropping my son off for his 1st trip without me 😭to Costa Rica with The Chattanooga Boys Choir for almost a week to perform in The International Choir Festival. Brenton has endured enough suffering, I’m ready for him to live and see the world, this is only the beginning for him. Safe travels to the boys and their leaders❤️✈️🌎

Got to spend lunch with these humans today! This table is filled with some of the most amazing leaders in Chattanooga’s art community. (And some of them have become our dearest friends over the past few years.) They have collaborated with us on some of our biggest projects and have helped us create some of our most treasured memories!

A huge shout out to the Lyndhurst Foundation for bringing us together and for your support of the arts in our community! So grateful for the investment in us as people and our work.

Today is the day! Our album, What Do We Wait For?, is officially out in the world. This project has been nearly three years in the making; some of these songs we first began writing back in 2023. When the opportunity to record at Deadbird Studio came in the summer of 2024, we dove in headfirst, preparing for what would be an absolute whirlwind of a week. That week of tracking in May 2025 tested us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Between fall 2024 and spring 2025, we tracked demos of how we envisioned these songs, rehearsed consistently with the band, and refined every detail to ensure we were ready to bring this to life. And goodness… what a week it was. Through the process, we learned so much about ourselves.

We are beyond grateful to everyone who contributed their talents to this record; those who tracked, mixed, mastered, documented the process, and created the artwork. So many people in our community helped make this album a reality. The past couple of years have been challenging, filled with many difficult days and tears, but releasing this album feels like closing a chapter, honoring the journey, and opening the door to what comes next.

We’ve also made the decision NOT to release this record on Spotify, Amazon, or Apple Music. Over time, we’ll be moving our music from these platforms to places that are more intentional about supporting artists and align more closely with our values. For now, What Do We Wait For? is available on Bandcamp and smaller streaming platforms like Qobuz. We’ll also release it on SoundCloud soon. The links are in our bio.

In May 2025, Brayden and I spent a week recording our first full-length album…songs written across many different seasons of life. Some we’ve carried for years, others came just months before recording when we realized there were other stories we wanted to tell.

This project stretched us, challenged us, and taught us so much about trusting ourselves and the people around us. So grateful for every friend who helped bring this record to life. 🤍

We cherished Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood growing up and deeply admire the remarkable person he was. He was someone who used his platform to inspire hope, celebrate diversity, and uplift the best in humanity. In 2019, after watching the documentary, we spent sometime writing our own version of his theme song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Last year, we got to partner with our friends at the Chattanooga Boys Choir to bring this song to life 🤍
