As I was looking through my website, I realized y’all may not know the basics of my origin story. So, here ya go!

A southern girl by way of Clanton, Alabama, Carmen lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband and their 3 children. Her early years were spent daydreaming about being an artist and a dancer. After discovering she was too short to join the @therockettes, Carmen turned her attention in high school and college to photography, earning her BA in Studio Art from @univofalabama in 2005. In 2009, she founded CBM Photo and has been serving the Birmingham, Alabama area since then.

Walt’s 13th birthday trip—we started in D.C. and wrapped things up in B-more with a Don Toliver concert, his first concert and a spectacular demonstration of how to move air with a PA!

Along the way, we visited the Spy Museum, explored the National Archives, caught a Nationals game, ate our weight in sushi and breakfast food, and packed a lot of memories into a few days.

One of the things I realized on this trip is that Walt’s love language is sarcasm and low-key quality time. I enjoyed every minute of it. I love who he is and feel honored to have a front-row seat to who he’s becoming.

All shot on B+W film with our little Nikon L35AD2 point-and-shoot. And yes, his annoyance at being photographed was entirely genuine. #waltyfinn

Sharing some recent work for @metaleapcreative that I’m really proud of.
The agency hired me to photograph a catalog of stock images for one of their clients undergoing a rebrand: A counseling center in the heart of NYC, gently working with women and men struggling with unplanned pregnancy. Meaningful work that I’m honored to be a part of. Thank you to our wonderful models and creative team:

#heymargaretjames aka THE WALL opened her season tonight with 18 saves and 0 goals against. Really admire how quietly fierce she is. ⚽️🧱🥅

Steak and coconut cake for the delightful #FrancesGrahms on her 11th birthday. Her teacher recently told us she’s kind to everyone in her class—and when she has something important to say, they listen.

It’s been *counts on fingers* about 6 months since I made this account, and I’ve yet to make an introduction! My name is Hilliary, and this tiny corner of Instagram is where I’m sharing my design work, creative endeavors, and DIY projects.

At the end of 2024, I became a mom to the happiest and most fun little girl. (Truly, she is such a delight.) With that transition, also came the desire to have a hard reset vocationally. Since graduating from college in 2013, I’ve done A LOT of different things — I’ve worked in ad agencies, nonprofits, a church, and a consulting firm. And I used to coordinate weddings on the side! (I like to think of my resume as well-rounded. 😉)

Yet what I have always lovedddd to do (since my college days) is designing invitations, stationery, and other details for events. I’ve done a good bit of it since I first got acquainted with InDesign back in 2011, but the demands of my full-time jobs have always come first. With the encouragement and support of my sweet husband, I am finally getting to do this creative work more full-time — just in the margins of Mother’s Day Out, naps, and after bedtime. I think parties and gatherings are a fun way to make people feel special — and I would love to see how I can make your people feel special, starting with the paper. 📃✨

Some fun facts:
📍I call Birmingham, AL home and have since I moved here for college…17 years ago!

💌 I am currently LOVING designing for kids’ birthday parties. But I love showers, weddings, and other parties too….especially themed-parties! Themes are my jam.

🎨 When it comes to hobbies, if it’s something you can do or make with your hands, I’ve done it! Calligraphy, photography, pottery, sewing, painting, drawing, flower arranging…the list goes on, and I love it all. I LOVE TO MAKE!

🛒 I used to be known around Birmingham for my IG thrifting account dedicated to my favorite bargain store. The corporate marketing team even threw my husband and I an in-store wedding shower LOL. (RIP @dirtcheaphome and Dirt Cheap. 😢) All that to say, I’m always down to thrift and treasure hunt. Anywhere, anytime.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Glad to have you here! 🫶🏻

Man, I love this kid. He’s witty, grounded, knows exactly who he is, says what he means, and is quietly kind when no one’s watching. 📷 by the wickedly talented, one and only, Adele Dazeem—aka @cbmphoto #waltyfinn
