‘After all these years of trying
Weighing on these tired bones
If there’s something I’ll take with me
•
•
•
Let it be hope’
__________________________________________

A few years ago, stepping into the room to create this piece was the closing of a chapter. One I’ll always be grateful for… but one I knew I had to step away from.

Life has so many chapters—each one filled with lessons. Even the “strong ones” face heartbreak, betrayal, disappointment. What has carried me through every season has always been HOPE—hope for inner peace, for joy, for respect, for something more.

Hope takes courage. It takes action. And looking back, every risk was worth it.

This piece gave these dancers a chance to share their own hopes for the future. Watching them step into it with bravery and heart was so inspiring. Years later, reflecting on their effort and artistry makes this work even more special. Forever grateful to these dancers for sharing my story through their own HOPE. 💛✨

Let this piece be your reminder to hold onto HOPE. It doesn’t have to be loud or shining—it can be just a spark, a small glimmer. Trust that brighter days are ahead, and know deep down that you deserve to be part of them.

‘you can’t use up CREATIVITY…the more you use the more you have.’

CREATING is one of my FAVORITE parts of my ‘job’…being in a room with a group of dancers, feeding off their energy, and creating pieces specifically for them is THE BEST!!! the process of setting choreography is where I have grown the most over the years and am so grateful for EVERY STUDIO that had offered me the opportunity to create for their students. Excited for what 2024 has in store✨✨

the 5 stages of grief

denial•anger•bargaining•depression•acceptance

grief is something that we have all experienced, some on a much greater level than others.

I started this piece because several people in my life lost ones close to them, then it became too much and I had to step away. Months passed & then a former student lost her father unexpectedly, I knew I had to do this for her.

As we went to share this powerful message of processing grief, one of my students tore her PCL one number before our stage debut. The injuries didn’t end there and this piece only saw the stage twice, never in its original form. These dancers not only lost their season, for a moment they lost something they cherish and it happened in the blink of an eye.

I made the choice to give this piece another chance this past season, for these kids but also for myself. We grieve loss, not only when it comes to those we love but also in the things we love. Through the season and a half of developing this piece and sharing it, ever performance brought a new lesson and appreciation for something or someone. Learning how to take on this powerful message and meet grief in the moment…then openly share that with an audience in hopes it helped just one person process their grief, was an amazing process for these dancers.

It is my hope that this piece finds you if you are grieving…and lets you know it is okay to feel what you are feeling. Know you are not alone and it is okay to be exactly where you are.

•The day that I met you
The world had just spit me out
On my way to the bottom
Sure I’d never be found
Then you saw me for me
Made me believe in myself
On the day that I met you
It all turned around•

The moment I heard this song I saw these 12 dancers in my head and a million tiny memories flashed through my mind. These humans have helped me learn who I am and all I can be…they have seen me through doubt, heartache, and defeat…each one of these kids is unique and special and their trust in me has helped me learn to trust myself. I owe them so much and at the beginning of the creation process I told them this was their ‘love letter’ to dance and all it has done for them…what I didn’t tell them was this was my ‘gratitude letter’ to them for how they have changed my life. This journey together may be over and this was the finale I dreamed of…thank you for allowing me to share these moments with you and my love for you is forever💕
