Dear Theta Iota,
“Be apart of something bigger then yourself” - and that is what Theta Iota is to me. If you told me 2 years ago I would go through recruitment, let alone serve on Executive Council, I would’ve laughed in your face. I could not be more grateful to be surrounded by such inspiring, intelligent, and goal oriented women.

Earlier this year we set a goal, one we originally could have only dreamed of. That goal was to be awarded the Karen Towell Sisterhood award, a campus wide honor we have never had the chance of receiving. With unmatched determination and grit led by @sarahgamble23 @campbellsmith18 @emma__hull and @chase.mather we were finally able to achieve this, and make Theta Iota history.

However, this could not have been accomplished without the unwavering amount of love, passion, and effort by every individual woman in this chapter. If it was not for us all, and the women who came before us, this would not have been achieved. Our legacy will prevail as we continue to make strides, as will the women who follow after us. Forever proud to be an Alpha Gam, LiEP❤️💛💚🐿️

“First you’re a part of it, then it becomes a part of you.”

This weekend, history was made as Theta Iota received the Karen Towel Sisterhood Award for the first time. This moment recognized the decades of work our chapter has put into fostering a loving, leading, and lasting sisterhood. This awards serves as a reminder that sisterhood comes alive in the way we choose to show up for one another every single day and support the ones we love.

Alpha Gam has always felt like a true sisterhood, but in the moments spent with this year’s awards committee, it felt like the perfect close to this chapter of my life…

I never expected the integral role sorority membership would have on my college experience, but here we are. When I first came to Western I had such a hard time navigating all the changes that come with college. And then I found myself surrounded by a community of likeminded women who inspired me to dream big and as they pushed me out of my comfort zone I realized that I had found the true meaning of sisterhood.

I am incredibly thankful to have spent the last 4 years surrounded by the genuine hearts of so many woman I call friends & even more grateful for the love they’ve given me.

This weekend would not have been possible without those who came before us. To all my sisters, I will never forget these last four years, the laughs shared at chapter, crying during preference, singing “never alone”, dancing in between recruitment rounds, and all the ups and downs we’ve experienced in between those moments. As my time in this chapter comes to an end I realize more as each day passes how lucky I am to have known each of you.

How blessed are we that we get to be each other’s “chosen few.”

I’m proud to call this place my home.

For the first time in Theta Iota history… KAREN TOWELL IS HOME!!!!!👏🥳🐿️

I genuinely don’t have the words to describe this feeling and I haven’t stopped smiling since yesterday. The amount of work these girls have put in shows and we showed up this week like never before. I am forever proud to wear these letters and genuinely couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending for my time in AGD!!
HUGE thank you to this awards committee and especially @campbellsmith18 and @sarahgamble23 for your beautiful words in this essay. Genuinely couldn’t have done this without you all.

I also had the opportunity to write one of the nominating essays about @kel.shelby on behalf of my chapter for the Charley Pride Spirit Award and she brought it home!!! Writing this was an absolute honor because there is nobody who exemplifies the values of Panhellenic like she does and she is truly so deserving. I could just go on and on about her impact on Greek life.

AND @maggieephelpss won the United in Sisterhood scholarship!! Being able to share how Maggie has shown me true sisterhood while wearing different letters is something I will forever talk about

GROWTH DOESN’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT🏆!! convocation last night felt like a dream come true, but it was many years in the making. for the first time in chapter history, we brought home the karen towell trophy! the ‘26 greek week awards committee will always hold such a special place in my heart. thank you all for trusting me and sarah, supporting our vision, and allowing our dream to become a reality. #LIEP

Best week EVER! I have tried to put into words what this experience means to me, and I just cannot find the right ones. Being one of the Overall Greek Week Chairs has been rewarding, awesome, and so much fun! My circle has expanded through this experience, allowing me to have gained friendships that will last even after graduation. Also, shoutout to @ryan.dilts for being the best Co-Overall Chair!

Being awarded the Charley Pride Spirit Award is one honor that I will carry with pride for the rest of my life. I feel honored and blessed to have received this award, especially during Charley’s last year at WKU. Like he said yesterday, Greek life has made me a better person, and it’s because of the people in it🩷
