Dear Old Morehouse.

This institution helped build me up as a person, a friend, a mentor, an academic, a leader, a community servant, a writer, a speaker, a musician, and as a Black man. Everything I've seen and done at Morehouse was critical in discovering who Charles Cherry III really is. By showing me what this world has to offer, Morehouse taught me to be true to myself, emboldening me to navigate life with integrity, compassion, and patience.

This institution also placed me among a new set of siblings who had my back through my struggles, large or small. I'll never forget the quiet moments, the conversations, the laughs, the kickbacks and parties, the competitions, the study sessions, or even the conflicts I've shared with them, as they are all a part of who I've become. I take pride in my friends and the growth I've witnessed in each and every one of them.

However, I wouldn't have had any chance to be at this institution without my family. My mom and my sister are two of the most important people in my life, bar none. The quality time, jokes, and support we share with one another has been invaluable to me and my journey. My grandmother's consistent wisdom and care, especially during breaks, helped keep me steady in my path. My father, despite his sudden passing after my freshman year, remains one of my greatest influences, and I still strive to follow his example. All of their advice, presence, and love kept me going every single day at Morehouse. I'm thankful for them and the ancestors who brought me here, both present and absent.

I'm eternally grateful to have had such an incredible Morehouse experience, one to call my own. As I move forward in life, I'll always hold this institution very close to my heart. Thank you, Dear Old Morehouse!
