Koala Camp is a wrap! Columbia College's Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program presented Koala Camp, a community outreach program for children with disabilities and their families. Over three weeks, families joined us in College Place to learn early ASL signs, guided by CC faculty, staff, and students.

Through games and activities designed to build real, everyday communication skills, these little ones walked away with signs they'll carry with them as they grow. Six sessions, countless first signs, and a graduation ceremony to close it all out. We love this program so much. See you next year! 🤟

✨ Over the past several weeks, Speech Plus Therapy Services has had the opportunity to participate in several wonderful community events, including Columbia College SLP Day 2026 and Parent Connections 2026, hosted by the Lexington One Special Education Parent Advisory Board.

Kelly and Robin had the pleasure of connecting with future SLPs and SLPAs during Columbia College's SLP Day and sharing their passion for supporting children and families through speech and feeding therapy.

Angela and Rachel also had an amazing time connecting with families in our community at Parent Connections 2026. They even had the pleasure of meeting Nicci Smith and Lise Smith from the Love on the Spectrum series! 💛

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, support, and grow alongside our community.

SLP Day 2026 was something special. 🐨

Last week, students came to campus to get a real look at what a career in speech-language pathology actually looks like — hearing from clinicians working with both kids and adults, sitting in on conversations with our faculty and current students, and connecting with employers and grad programs at the Career & Graduate School Fair.

Good people, good conversations, and a whole lot of students leaving with a clearer picture of where they're headed. 💜

Thank you to everyone who came out, spoke up, and showed these future SLPs what's possible.

Happy International Women’s Day 🎉
Thankful for all the women who have fought for women’s rights throughout history and for all the amazing women who have pushed me to the best person I can be.
When looking back at my education at Columbia College, the school was founded as an all women’s college in 1854.
**Columbia College is the eleventh-oldest women’s college in the United States and one of only two women’s colleges in South Carolina.
I am thankful to be apart of the amazing women that have graduated from CC and made many impacts in the world👩🏼‍🎓
My time at Columbia College came to a close last December, but I’ll never forget the women in the SLPA major who pushed me to be the best SLPA I could be. To all my professors and supervisors, I’m forever grateful for your leadership and drive to make the beet I could be.

Proverbs 31:16-17 💓
"She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong."

Meet Kris Griffith, one of our new writing and SLP writing tutors! She is currently a junior here at Columbia College. She is a Speech Language Pathology major and loves it! She is a member of the NSSLHA chapter here on campus. Fun fact: she has a scar on her face from a water skiing accident.
