🎥🎞️Y’all @tribeca was a blast! Sharing the love on this last day of the festival. Huge Congratz to the “Bang Bang” team for winning a Special Jury Recognition - given a lot of love from @lenawaithe (thank you 🫶🏽) in the commercials category #tribecax with some heavy hitters in competition including the incomparable Spike Jonze and always amazing @asaprocky So proud of you @hisonnij as you continue to rise. 👏🏽👏🏽Your talent, work ethic and commitment are undeniable. ❤️‍🔥 Thrilled to be a part of the producing team and “Bang Bang” village. This impactful PSA, created by Hisonni as a Fellow during my time as Exec. Director of @cddprogram (@theaicp & @directorsguild ) is a shining example of what is possible when Diversity and Inclusion is nurtured and supported with funding and not just lip service. Some of the commercials created in this fellowship have gone on to win numerous awards (Emmy’s, Webby’s, Telly’s, etc) and have even had requests for licensing. That’s how good these Directing fellows and their work are! Thanks to all who contributed to this PSA including DP @schwingzies @cosmostreeteditorial @andrew.corrales (editor) @furlinedproductions and so many others. Tribeca was filled with endless inspiration. Got to chat with a couple of the @att Untold Story Winners- @bydave_fortune @colorbookfilm Color Book (Netflix June 19th), @lizziesarge @take_me_home_film Take Me Home. Congratz on these wonderful films! 🙌🏽Stopped by the @filmfatalesorg & @americanfilminstitute toasts/gatherings. Met up with old and new friends. @mehrdad_sarlak @imaginethiswomensfilmfestival Checked out a few films including the @harvest.doc about a Black Farming family (congratz @trevite.willis and team - @nataliebaszile & #HyacinthParker). Ran into @catherinehardwicke (Tribeca Juror) and had an awesome impromptu catch-up in Union Square park. Gotta love NY! And of course had a great time at the always amazing Muslim House @mpachollywoodbureau lots of great panels @iamjumaii including Mira Nair, thanks Sue & crew for all you do! What a time to be in NYC. “Bang Bang” has officially won TWO Silver Telly Awards at the 47th Annual Telly Awards in the categories of PUBLIC INTEREST & AWARENESS and SOCIAL IMPACT.

The Telly Awards receive more than 13,000 entries globally and honor work from major networks, agencies, brands, and production companies across all screens, which makes this recognition incredibly meaningful to me.

What makes this even more special is that this piece was built by people who genuinely cared about the message. A 30-second PSA about banned books, gun violence, and the power of education somehow found its way from an idea into award-winning work seen around the world. That honestly feels like a minor miracle.

Huge thank you to @cddprogram and @furlinedproductions for believing in the vision and helping create the space for this to happen.

Thank you to @schwingzies Thomas Schwingle, @baobabt Tamika Lamison, Jack MacDonough, and every single person who gave their talent, energy, time, and heart to this project.

And thank you to everyone who watched, shared, supported, and connected with this piece. Seeing something this personal resonate with audiences and juries at this level has been surreal.

“Bang Bang” continues to prove that short-form storytelling can still hit hard and spark conversation.
