So. My mentor Joe Cimino passed last week and it’s actually been a lot to unpack. This dude was an absolute Titan and an essential part of how The city of #Boston evolved into the Mecca it is today. I mean you can google him and you’ll get how he formed relationships and business partnerships ships with all timers like Derek Sanderson and Joe Namath. Or just being at his celebration and seeing people like Lydia Shire the greatest female chef in American history speak about him you kinda can see that yeah he was a G but it won’t tell you what it meant like to be in his presence. I’ve met three people in my life that I was like oh shit whenever they walked into a room. Joe Montana , Cal Ripken and Mark Messier. Joe had that same sort of presence. He was a leader of men and he recruited the highest caliber of studs, men and women to work for him. He just exuded and epitomized an old school cool like a Steve McQueen badass that I’ve never seen since. I was kinda wild back in the day I’ll admit that but Joe well I feared him but my overwhelming feeling after working for him foelr awhile was that I didn’t want to disappoint him. Ever. He’s the first person I ever met that drank me under the table and he took me to some of the nicest restaurants in Boston and really taught me how to be a foodie before that term even existed. I was a rookie in the minor leagues hustling at Lucky Johnnie’s and then the Spaghetti club before i finally got the call up to Daisy’s the best bar in #America according to Playboy magazine. Then when i finally got in the bar after two years I was the first black bartender at a major bar in the City of Boston and Henry Vara one of the OG big bar owners was calling me Jackie Robinson. The relationships I have made from that period of my life are the foundation that have built and sustained me as a person. It’s actually indescribable how much all of the Daisy’s , Dads and Caio Bella people and our business partners from all of the hospitality and liquor industry have affected me in the most positive of ways. So as I mourn Joe. I celebrate him and his wonderful family #love #RIP
