In preparation for tomorrow’s exhibition ‘P.S. or Postscriptum” we are delighted to share more and welcome Fall Line Press to Cleo in celebrating the art of the photobook and the artists behind them.

Founded in Atlanta, Fall Line Press is an independent publisher dedicated to supporting contemporary photographers through beautifully crafted, limited-edition photobooks and creating space for artists and the community to gather around photography.

We’re especially excited to have Jess Rhodes, Senior Editor at Fall Line Press, helping organize the exhibition. Jess is a photographer and editor based in south Georgia whose work explores timelessness, the American vernacular, and the space between the strange and the mundane. She is the recipient of a 2024 VII Mentorship and the 2025 Photowork Junior Fellowship, and also serves as Senior Editor at Pamplemousse Magazine.

Fall Line Press has published photobooks by the artists we’re proud to be exhibiting, Casey Joiner and Matthew Finley, both of which will be on display.

Join us Friday evening to see “HOUSEKEEPING” and “An Impossibly Normal Life” in person, and to celebrate this exciting collaboration between Cleo and Fall Line Press.

‘P.S. or Postscriptum’ will be opening tomorrow from 6-9pm at 2424 Drayton Street. Artist talk will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 12pm.

As we near the opening of our collaborative exhibition ‘P.S. or Postscriptum’, with Fall Line Press, we would like to share more information on our exhibiting artists Matthew Finley and Casey Joiner, and our show’s curator Sidney Pettice.

Matthew Finley, based in Los Angeles, uses photography to explore vulnerability, identity, and connection. Working across a variety of photographic processes, his project An Impossibly Normal Life constructs an imagined family history around a queer uncle, creating space for a life shaped by acceptance, love, and possibility. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and is held in several permanent collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography.

Casey Joiner is a photographer based in New Orleans whose work is loosely rooted in the documentary tradition. Her photographs explore memory, imagination, identity, and care, drawing from her experience growing up in the Deep South. With a sensitivity to the peculiarities of everyday life, Joiner’s work balances sentimentality, humor, and the surreal.

The curator of ‘P.S. or Postscriptum’ Sidney Pettice is both a curator and writer from North Carolina who centers Black history, culture, and vernacular, with a particular focus on the African Diaspora. Pettice holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an M.A. in Curatorial Studies from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College. Her writing and research have appeared in ‘Art & Criticism Magazine, Burnaway’, and ‘Southern Arts and Politics Magazine’, among others. She has curated exhibitions and conducted archival research with institutions and artists including Lorraine O’Grady and the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art. Pettice is currently pursuing a PhD in History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

‘P.S. or Postscriptum’ will be opening this Friday, October 2nd from 6-9pm at 2424 Drayton Street. Don’t miss this amazing work!

We are pleased to announce ‘P.S. or Postscriptum’, a collaborative exhibition with Fall Line Press featuring the work of photographers Matthew Finley and Casey Joiner, curated by Sidney Pettice.

Taking its name from the postscript written at the end of a letter, ‘P.S. or Postscriptum’ considers what happens in the moments “after” and how memory shifts, expands, and becomes something we continue to write. Through their respective series, ‘An Impossibly Normal Life’ and ‘Housekeeping’, Finley and Joiner explore personal archives, grief, inheritance, and the ways photographs can hold and reimagine histories.

This exhibition was made possible by collaborating with Fall Line Press, an independent Atlanta-based photobook publisher dedicated to working closely with photographers to transform their projects into lasting, bound objects.

Join us for the opening reception on Friday, October 2nd, from 6–9pm at 2424 Drayton Street.

Additionally, an artist talk will be held Saturday, October 3rd, at 12:00pm.

We can’t wait to see you there!

“The project, as Casey Joiner has written, ‘began long before [she] was aware of it.’ She first started shooting what became the monograph ‘Housekeeping’ in 2021 as her father, Tim, struggled with a long-term illness, then continued photographing through his untimely passing in early 2023.” -Jonah Goldman Kay
