With a full heart, and a little emotion, I’m writing this.

After one month, my second solo exhibition ROOTS has come to an end.

This exhibition started with a question: where do I come from, what shaped me, and why do I create?

And somewhere along the way, the answer became clearer: I create because art connects.

Over the past month, I met people from all over the world. People from the UAE, Los Angeles, New York, London, Jordan, South Africa, Brazil, Madrid, Paris and so many more places walked into the gallery and brought their own stories with them.

Some saw things in my work that I had never seen myself. Some shared memories. Some simply stood still in front of an artwork for a while. And somehow, all of those moments became part of ROOTS too.

The gallery also became so much more than a place to show my work. I got to collaborate with incredible photographers, makeup artists and fashion designers, bring art and fashion together during @amsterdamfashionweek and even experience the work in a completely different way during Yin Yoga.

I usually build my paintings through 40 to 60 layers, but this month added layers I could never have created on my own.

To everyone who came by, supported me, bought a work or simply became part of this month: I’m more grateful than I can put into words.

The gallery doors are closed, but the story continues.

Next stop: Paris for two months back to the city where my journey as an artist first began. 🤍
