Neil has used tons of bags and gear-hauling systems over the years. From his days as a racer to his recent exploration of modern design, he has bins full of bags and racks that show how carrying stuff has changed since he started #bikepacking. In his latest video, he digs through his boxes of bags and explains what worked, what didn’t, and why. Find it linked from our home page now…

I’ve put more miles on my bike this year than I’ve put on my daily driver

Load up, peep the leaves, chase the light, and don’t forget to have fun along the way. Autumn is here and it’s the best time of year to live on your bike!

I went to Slender James and all I got was a copy of Aristocats.

There are 3 gravel events that I believe are must do’s: @theheywoodride, @coonforkgravel and @oldfashionedgravel. Although different, they all have found the perfect combo of scenic, fun routes while having a welcoming, party-like atmosphere for any and all bikers! All are welcome. Stoke 10/10

The OFG this weekend couldn’t have been better. Started Friday with a fun shakeout ride while chasing the sunset. Then Saturday was near perfection (damn wind). The routes are TOUGH but the never-ending scenery in the driftless keeps your mind busy as you mash the cranks. Big thanks to all the organizers and volunteers, can’t wait for next years ride!

Slender James is a race of its own. Come out for the least serious race in town. Where else can you blend your own smoothie before the start of the race on a bike. Thanks to @cedaero @spokengear @cedar_coffee_co for setting this up every year. You ever see this? Silly race come up and you're off you should really come out for a good time.

Got myself a new frame bag from @dismount_to ! The @wilde.bikes and @cedaero waxed canvas frame bag that was made for the Supertramp, so it’s a perfect fit. Stoked to load up!

Cargo West 5
- Worlds biggest truck meets worlds heaviest bike.
- Yayyy got to meet up with Ally and visit @bedrocksandals when I came through Missoula
- Never not snacking.
- Helf.
- Yup.
- Had a BLAST hanging out with @trip.longer in Fernie for a night! They're even more awesome IRL than they are online. Love love turning internet friends into real life friends.
- Columbia River Gorge north side.
- Good lake spot.
- Pb&j semi.
- I mostly got lucky dodging the wildfire smoke. Even when it was thick like this it somehow never really hit my lungs.
- Good stealth camp spot behind a historic grain elevator.
- Verrry good camp spot at a closed campground.
- Another very good camp spot at another closed campground.
- And yet again, a free camp spot behind a baseball field.
- AND YET AGAIN! Free camp spot on a dead end county road next to a train yard.
- I spent two hours just benching. Was one of my best train watching spots of the whole tour.

Testing my bag set up for @midsouthgravel Mega Mid South, but what good are all these bags if I don’t stop for some Casey’s gummy pizzas for my daughter? @caseyscyclingteam
