Last night at Barberstown Castle.

Sí beag Sí mor, a melody attributed to Turlough O’Carolan (1670-1738) one of Ireland’s last great bards.

The origin of the melody was most likely drawn from local traditional music.

Sí refers to “fairy mounds” or burial chambers. Beag means little, mor means big in Irelands native language.

The Sí or sidhe, are the “fairies” or rather the old Gods of Ireland (Tuath De Dannan) who, to escape many invasions and destruction of the natural environment, went underground, where they remain (mostly) to this day. Although the veil between the underworld and our world is growing thin. During Samhain you are most likely to encounter these beings. Hawthorn trees are a favourite place for the sidhe.

A beautiful melody played regularly during Irish ceremonies.

Many of our destination wedding couples choose to incorporate this tune into their ceremony. Bridal entrance or handfasting it suits many different parts of your ceremony.

Yesterday, I had the absolute privilege of marrying Colin & Sally at the stunning Cabra Castle 😍

Their ceremony was so beautiful and such a special family affair ❤️ Sally’s sister Amy shared the most incredible piece on marriage, which she had written herself, while Colin’s gorgeous Nanny Kathleen shared Union by Robert Fulghum. I also shared the poem I wrote about their journey.

Their siblings lit the family candles, and their Mams signed the registry 🥰

Sally & Colin wrote each other love letters and placed them in a box, along with a bottle of their favourite wine, to be opened on their first anniversary 🍾

They exchanged vows and rings before being pronounced husband and wife & the new Mr & Mrs May 💍

What a beautiful, loved filled day it was ❤️

Wishing you both the happiest if lives together 😘

I also got to work alongside some incredible suppliers 🥰

Bringing all the nostalgia for Jennifer and Dan on their wedding day this summer at the wonderful @ballybeghouse.

It was my absolute delight to capture the day on a mix of Super 8 and camcorder for a couple who truly valued the processes of both. To say I felt welcomed by their family and friends is a huge understatement and it was a pleasure to have conversations about what super 8 is and to have some older family members shocked that it’s still in use today.

Jen & Dan, it was a blessing to have you as a couple of mine this summer and to be with you for your celebrations in Ireland 🍀

Enjoy,
Sarah

Denise & Patrick ❤🥂

Another cracking wedding at the beautiful @ballykealeyhouse 🙌

Denise & Patrick gave us a great one! From the first song with the band, there was a real party atmosphere in the room and it only got better as the night went on!

Once the band finished, we went straight into DJ & SAX and kept the party going right through to the end , What a crowd and what a night!

Denise & Patrick, thanks so much for having us as part of your big day. We had an absolute ball and wish you both a lifetime of happiness together 💛
