🌴💛 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄S — 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 💛🌴

Pacers invaded the Esplanade, humidity invaded everyone's lungs, and our milestone legends made it all look easy!

🟢 350 – Rick Middleton
350 parkruns and still showing up stronger than half the Esplanade infrastructure.

🟢 300 – Simon Batt
Our resident Cone Boy reached 300 and somehow managed to organise several parkruns at once.

🟢 300 – Tracey Bancroft
300 parkruns and now a Run Director too — a promotion well earned!

⚫ 200 – Tracie Bizant
200 parkruns completed with her trademark calm and consistency.

⚫ 200 – Robert Chapman
200 runs of steady commitment, strong form and post-parkrun coffee-powered excellence.

⚫ 150 – Wade Dalton
150 parkruns and still looking far too fresh at the finish line.

⚫ 100 – Julie James
100 parkruns for one of our superstar volunteers and part of the legendary James family crew.

🔴 50 – Noah Rankine
50 parkruns for our junior superstar, powered almost entirely by youth and enthusiasm.

🟣 25 – Kayoko Thomas
25 parkruns, plus a first-time volunteer shift — an impressive double!

🟣 25 – Peter McDougall
25 parkruns and officially qualified to comment on the humidity.

🟣 25 – Pao Marven
25 parkruns completed with style and a photographer's instinct.

🟣 25 – Colin Stiff
25 parkruns and now considered a permanent fixture of the course.

🟣 25 – Jordan Demetrius
25 parkruns and looking far too comfortable while doing it.

🤍 First-time volunteer shoutouts to Ray Freeman and Kayoko Thomas!
Congratulations to all our milestone legends and volunteers who helped make another fantastic Saturday possible. 🌴💛

✨ UPCOMING RACING ✨

It's finally Ironman Week! 🏊🚴🏃

It's been a long time coming for all of our athletes but to start things off, we have Clifford, Tara, David, Salome, Kylie W and Robbie all taking on the 70.3 distance in the Teams event.
Ange will be competing in the Green Island Swim and we couldn't think of a more stunning location for a swim.

Race hard but don't forget to enjoy it 🌞

Why should you become a Smurf Athlete?

Let Clifford tell you:

1. How long have you been training with your coach?
I’ve been with Josh since January 2022 which was for the Noosa Ultra Trail 80km

2. What’s your favourite squad session and why?
I love threshold sessions at Barlow Park! I love the consistency of the track, that there is nowhere to hide and performance is easily measured. No more excuses!!

3. Do you have any upcoming races?
No races for me for a while as I build back up post surgery. My objective is to be able to run some distance, any distance this year. In the meantime I will focus on what I can achieve and be cheering like mad and supporting all the other amazing athletes in the squad

4. What do you love about being with the Smurf Endurance Squad?
The complete lack of egos and the support you get from being surrounded by so many unbelievable athletes who are there for you at all times. It doesn’t matter what recent herculean achievements they’ve just completed, most of the time you wouldn’t know unless you asked. Even the triathletes are humble….!

🌟 @taraweraultratrail 🌟

Our first Smurf Squad “destination race” with a small contingent of the crew taking on the 50k, 100k or 100 mile 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

An incredible event with the embedding of Māori and New Zealand culture in to a big atmosphere. The support of the volunteers, staff and community was immense and we loved (most of 😉) it!!

🌟 Michael finished his first ultra running 53k of Rotorua trails - definitely not just a “fun run” 😉
🌟Jon finished his first official ultra pushing through 109k after only 6 weeks ago we weren’t even sure he would get to the finish line
🌟 Clifford nailed his first 100k+ after 2 years of building towards this finish line!
🌟 Jane smashed the 109k, not only finishing her first 100k, but also finishing in the top 25% of women and top 30% overall
🌟 Luke amazingly got through 100 miles after only returning to running from injury a matter of weeks ago!

And then for me, it was my first DNF in an ultra. I’ll share more on that soon, but more important is to celebrate the amazing achievements of the squad.

The question now…where could we be off to for our 2025 Smurf Squad destination race… 🤔🤔🤔
