POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Attended the CFC Creates Homecoming last week, and it was truly special. This annual celebration brought together some of Canada’s brightest filmmakers and storytellers heading to TIFF 2026.

The energy in the room was incredible. Canadian talent from across Toronto and beyond, all connected by their creative vision and passion for storytelling. Beyond the celebration, they were raising vital funds to support the next generation of filmmakers coming up through the Canadian Film Centre.

Events like this remind me why I love the creative community here in Toronto. If you’re an actor, filmmaker, or storyteller in Canada, the work happening at @cfccreates is worth paying attention to.

How do you feel when you realize you’ve lived out a moment you once dreamed of? A dream you prayed for, and believed in yourself enough to go after.

A year ago, I got to act in a movie that wasn’t just beautifully executed and action packed, but one that has much relevance on what we are seeing around us today. That movie brought me to the Toronto International Film Festival for the first time, American Black Film Festival, even across the globe to Milan Italy 🇮🇹, and many more. Many firsts were had thanks to this film- and sticking to my craft and what I love.

It is true that it gets harder to hold onto your dreams as you get older. But with all the screenings, festivals, red carpets, glitz and glam- I have to say this day was by far the most special.

I got to share the first time having my movie in THEATRES with the people closest to me. My family, some of which have seen all the hours I put in to get there. The hours in classes, the hundreds of auditions, the hours of prep, the times I got close, but not close enough, and the many, many heartbreaks. All the things that others wouldn’t think twice about, and I got to share that first with them.

I got to see them smiling back at me proudly. Beaming that their friend, cousin, student, sister, niece, and daughter was just on the big screen at the local cineplex. I got to share that joy with them. That passion that they don’t always understand, but at least in this moment they could see the picture, see my talent and see why I still stay up after putting my kid to bed or at 5am before she is up to work on scripts, or auditions. God has been faithful… in His own timing, but always faithful.

The hustle and grind of an actor continues. No special treatment, nothing handed to me. Just the silent work that no one sees in the background that continues, as life does as well.

So as I look back and see I lived out what I once dreamed of, I know as they say, it’s not the destination, but the journey itself.

As one of my acting coaches at gracemoon once told me, the reward to hard work, is more hard work.❤️🙏🏽🎬

What is a dream you are living?
