Las Vegas filmmaker Edwin Ramirez (@edwinnramirez) is taking his momentum global, representing the city on an international stage as he travels to Lisbon, Portugal for the prestigious 48 Hour Film Project (@48hourfilmproject.) Fresh off his win at the Las Vegas 48 Hour Film Project (@lv48hourfilm) last September, Ramirez earned the opportunity to showcase his work among some of the most talented rapid-fire filmmakers from around the world.

His winning film, “There’s Something in the Water,” captured attention for its sharp storytelling, atmospheric tension, and ability to fully realize a compelling narrative within the intense 48-hour time constraint. It’s the kind of project that embodies what makes the competition so powerful—raw creativity under pressure, where instinct, collaboration, and vision collide.

Technically this is the final leg of the 48 Hour competition. But the winner in Portugal will get the opportunity to showcase their film in Cannes, France during the Cannes Film Festival Short Corner.

The first two photos are from my first every Sundance in Park City! It was amazing and cold and magical! ✨The snow falling ❄️ all around you while you get to see films and talk to people from all over was something completely out of this world! It was my first time as a filmmaker seeing short films and thinking that I could really be part of the film making world! 🎞️ All the other photos are from this year and I have to say despite it only snowing once while we were there it was still magical, every showing was special with the creators being there, every talk felt personal and being with the most amazing friends that have become family made the last year in Park City live up to that very first magical year I had! 💛I’m so grateful I got to part of the last Sundance in Park City and I can’t wait to see where the tips that I learned and the relationships I made take me!
