Firetti Contemporary is delighted to highlight Salmah Almansoori’s involvement in Art for Change, an exhibition curated by Elena Belolipetskaia, art historian, researcher and collection advisor, as part of the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit in Abu Dhabi.

Drawing inspiration from her surroundings and lived experiences, Almansoori transforms familiar materials and fragments of the past into meaningful expressions of identity and belonging. Her artistic approach reveals the connections between heritage, the environment and the stories embedded in ordinary things.

Reflecting the summit’s theme, “Resilience for a Sustainable Future,” her participation highlights how artistic expression can encourage new perspectives on preservation, cultural continuity and our shared responsibility towards the future.

For Syrian artist Ahmad Tallaa, the notion of home extends beyond geographical boundaries. It exists in the accumulation of lived experiences, in the places that have shaped us, and in the personal histories that remain part of who we are.

LIVING LAYERS | MAHMOOD AL DAOUD
Art, Material and the Spaces We Inhabit

Ornare Dubai, in collaboration with Firetti Contemporary, presents Living Layers, a curated selection of works by Syrian artist Mahmood Al Daoud, held at the Ornare Showroom during Dubai Design Week 2026.

Exploring themes of memory, nature and renewal, Al Daoud’s layered compositions enter into dialogue with Ornare’s approach to craftsmanship and personal expression. Through colour, texture and light, the presentation considers how art, materials and the objects we surround ourselves with shape our experience of a space.

As part of the event, “What Makes a Space Personal?” brings together artist Mahmood Al Daoud and architect Carina Fontes in a conversation moderated by Mara Firetti, Founder of Firetti Contemporary.

From his early years in Damascus to his exploration of different artistic disciplines, the discussion offers a closer look at the stories and ideas behind his work.

A closer look at the practice of Emirati artist Salmah Almansoori, whose work explores place, memory and cultural identity through the changing landscape of her hometown, Ghayathi.
Moving across painting, photography, sculpture and installation, Almansoori gathers images and materials from the land, palm fibres, desert grasses, recycled paper and discarded fabrics, transforming them into intimate archives of places at risk of disappearing.

Presented alongside Italian artist Marilina Marchica, Traces of Home brings two distinct geographies into dialogue through memory, material and belonging.

A closer look at the making of “Fragments” by Mai Al Remeithi.

Inspired by Abu Dhabi’s architectural heritage, Fragments explores the relationship between traditional Islamic artistry and the modern structures that continue to redefine the city’s landscape.

At the heart of Mai’s work are intricate Islamic patterns, meticulously recreated through threads. Each stitch represents a connection to the past, preserving the cultural and historical narratives embedded within these architectural designs.

As glass facades and minimalist structures become increasingly prominent across Abu Dhabi, Mai draws attention to the ornate craftsmanship of traditional architecture, highlighting its significance within the city’s evolving identity.

These behind-the-scenes moments reveal the patience and precision involved in her process, where material and motif come together to celebrate Abu Dhabi’s architectural legacy and the coexistence of tradition and innovation.

Jason Middlebrook works at the intersection of painting and sculpture, allowing the natural character of wood to become an active part of each composition. Grain, knots, and irregularities are not concealed, but incorporated into painted patterns, geometric forms, and gestures that respond directly to the material.

Through this dialogue between the organic and the constructed, Middlebrook explores our evolving relationship with nature and the ways human intervention can both transform and reveal what is already there.
