50 years after Gérald Genta’s IWC Ingenieur SL 1832, IWC is celebrating the milestone with two new Ingenieur Automatic models.

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary (ref. IW328910) stays close to the spirit of the 1976 original, with a 40mm stainless-steel case, integrated bracelet, five-screw bezel, vertically brushed silver-plated dial, and the distinctive ā€œ50ā€ anniversary logo replacing the usual lightning-bolt emblem.

Inside is IWC’s Caliber 32111, offering a 120-hour power reserve and a soft-iron inner case for magnetic-field protection. The watch is limited to 1,150 pieces and is priced at €14,700.

There’s also a 35mm version, powered by a different movement and priced at €12,800.

We went hands-on with the 40mm edition to see how this modern Ingenieur compares with the Genta original and how it wears on the wrist.

What do you think? šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

The team behind the emails, events, press appointments, late night deadline sprints, and occasional office debates about where to get the best ice cream in Amsterdam.

In the latest edition of our Substack newsletter, HUSH HUSH, Yes Please, we hand over the microphone to the people behind the agency.

From summer plans and travel recommendations to reflections on the first half of the year, consider it a postcard from the team before everyone disappears to beaches, festivals, countryside roads, and slightly overambitious holiday itineraries.

Head to our Substack for the inside scoop and meet the people behind HUSH HUSH.

The Portugieser, but not as you know it.
With the new all-black IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser Chronograph in Ceratanium, one of the brand’s most classically styled watches takes an unexpected turn. Long known for timeless elegance, the Portugieser now appears in a stealthy, modern guise — and the result feels surprisingly natural.
The familiar proportions remain unchanged at 41mm Ɨ 13.1mm, powered by the in-house caliber 69355 automatic column-wheel chronograph. But everything else embraces contrast. The lightweight, scratch-resistant Ceratanium case introduces a matte black presence previously reserved for IWC’s pilot watches, while a smoked sapphire case back subtly hides the movement within its darker aesthetic.
A matte black dial with glossy azurage sub-dials, polished leaf hands, and applied Arabic numerals creates a tone-on-tone look that balances restraint with depth. Paired with a textured rubber strap, the Portugieser suddenly feels sportier without losing its identity.
Limited to 1,500 pieces and priced at €15,000, this is a bold reinterpretation of a ā€œbrilliantly boringā€ classic — proof that even icons can surprise when dressed in black. Find out more, now @fratellowatches
