Want to become a better leader? Become a beginner again. 🧘🏻‍♀️

For the past few months, I’ve been doing something that has taken me far outside my usual world of boardrooms, entrepreneurship, technology and strategy:

I became a student again.

200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at CorePower Yoga.

Learning asana.
Pranayama.
Koshas.
Kleshas.
Māyā.
Ancient wisdom.
New ways of thinking.

And learning how to fall.

Literally.

Hello, Crow Pose. 😂🐦

There is something incredibly humbling about being accomplished in one area of your life — and then walking into another where you are completely new.

You have to listen.

Take feedback.

Try things you’re not good at.

Fall.

Laugh.

Get back up.

And try again.

That is leadership training too.

Because every time we put ourselves in unfamiliar situations, we build something incredibly valuable:

🧠 Neuroplasticity
💪 Resilience
🤍 Empathy
🌱 Curiosity
🧘 Presence
⚡ Adaptability
🤝 Community

And I think these qualities will matter even more in the age of AI.

AI can already research, summarize, analyze and increasingly handle many of the mundane cognitive tasks that once took us hours.

But being human?

Knowing how to navigate uncertainty.

How to inspire people.

How to remain curious.

How to listen.

How to change your mind.

How to learn, unlearn and learn again.

Those are becoming leadership superpowers.

Maybe the future doesn’t belong to the person in the room who knows the most.

Maybe it belongs to the person who is most willing to keep learning.

So here’s my challenge:

When was the last time you deliberately became a beginner at something?

Tell me below 👇 — I’d love some inspiration for what I should learn next.

200 hours of practice, learning, laughter, challenge, and growth — and I’m so grateful for every moment.

I began this journey to deepen my practice, understand alignment, and challenge myself in a new way.

What I didn’t expect was how much it would teach me off the mat: to embrace the glows, learn from the grows, stay present, and begin again with courage and compassion.

The greatest gift was the people. ❤️

Strangers became classmates, cheerleaders, teachers, and friends. We sweated, laughed, downward dogged and encouraged one another until we became a community.

I’m leaving with deeper knowledge, a stronger practice, and friendships and memories I’ll carry far beyond the mat.

The training may be complete but the practice is just beginning. 🙏✨

Here’s to the glows, grows, friendships, and whatever comes next. 💛

"Falling slowly, eyes that know me, and I can't go back."

On July 29th, outside of Dublin, we lost — to a motorcycle accident — the life and voice of Glen Hansard [1].

Rarely in life do we have the opportunity to experience an artist or performance at its most stripped down, pure, and raw emotional center. To be that kind of artist, it takes a life lived — mostly because of the kind of person who can suffer and yet persevere with their emotional intelligence intact, and then share all of that energy, whether it was pain or epiphany, with us. It always seems to break through when it is from that finest of stuff.

So, farewell and rest in peace to Glen Hansard, who's Oscar-winning moment with the composition "Falling Slowly" — from the movie Once — was, I believe, one of these.

RIP Glen Hansard
April 21, 1970 – July 29, 2026 [2]

CIAO CELLA 💋 San Diego is calling! 🏝️🌊
So incredibly proud of Cella for committing to SDSU. She’s headed down south to major in Kinesiology, and we know she’s going to absolutely crush it in San Diego. Can’t wait to see you thrive in the sun. Go Aztecs! 🔴⚫️☀️
