@metallica I really cannot overstate the anger I feel today over James Hetfield’s remarks at Metallica’s Sphere performance recently when he called out ‘other artists’ for spouting ‘political bullshit’ at their performances. The artist he was talking about was Macklemore who dared to say the words: ‘Free Palestine’ on stage. What is happening in Palestine can only be compared to the Jewish Holocaust of World War II. Entire cities have been flattened. 70 thousand people have been murdered. 20 thousand of them were children. To not be ‘political’ at a time like this is to be part of the evil. The most political thing Hetfield could have said was that he was not political.

I grew up on Metallica. When I was 14 I saw them live - Monsters of Rock tour just before And Justice For All came out and changed Pop culture forever. To me, Metallica was the epitome of the anti-establishment revolution. I think it’s safe to say that much of my ‘punk’ mindset had its seeds planted listening to those early albums. Metallica were my heroes. They inspired me to write. For Whom the Bell Tolls was the first book I willfully picked up and started reading - all because of a Metallica song.

To hear Hetfield raise the banner of a fluffball with no substance was truly heart breaking for me. I bring you this early flick. When I had gotten sober for the first time. If you scroll all the way down on my page, this was the first flick I ever posted. It was called Requiem for Puppets. Some five hundred flicks later I am posting it again. Under a new name. Requiem for Metallica. It will forever be the one and only time I ever use a Metallica song. They have lost their hang out card. I reject them as false messiahs. Sorry. You cannot be punk and apathetic. Not in my book. And anger without cause is just fucking noise, Hetfield. Never ask for whom the bell tolls. IT TOLLS FOR THEE, BITCH!

Lemmy Kilmister, the true face of rock ‘n’ roll, louder than life, raw and unapologetic – Lemmy wasn’t just a musician, he was a movement.

With Motörhead, he bridged metal and punk, inspiring generations. “Born to lose, live to win“ wasn’t just a lyric – it was how he lived.

Legends never die. ♠️

Slash explaining how Lemmy’s unique bass style differing from other bass players.

Lemmy played the bass like a rhythm guitarist rather than a traditional low-end rhythm section player.

Key Differences in Lemmy’s Style

• Rhythm Guitar Approach: Lemmy started out playing rhythm guitar, which shaped how he attacked the instrument. Instead of playing simple, low single-note foundation lines tucked under the guitars, he used double-stops and full chords.

• Heavy Distortion and Gain: While most conventional bassists aim for a clean, round, and smooth low-end tone, Lemmy pushed his Rickenbacker bass hard through heavily driven Marshall amplification (such as his famous “Murder One” rig).

• Aggressive Pick Attack: He played with a pick using fast, heavy down-strokes and strummed multiple strings at once. This created a wall of sound that filled the sonic space usually reserved for both a bass player and a rhythm guitarist.

• Midrange and Treble Cut: Unlike standard bass tones that sit deep in the sub-frequencies, Lemmy’s sound emphasized the midrange and treble. This allowed his bass to slice straight through Motörhead’s high-energy three-piece lineup.

On this day in October 12, 1986 Motörhead brought the Orgasmatron tour to the orange pavilion in San Bernardino, California with Cro-Mags and according to some historical listings, Megadeth.

However, there are conflicting reports surrounding Megadeth’s appearance. Some records list them on the bill, while other sources indicate they had already been pulled from the Motörhead tour after only a few dates due to conflict involving management.

Either way, what a lineup!

Were you there that night?
