“They don’t call Gallagher the Boogeyman for nuthin’.”

📚ARC Review📚
Title: Killing the Boogeyman
Author: Richard Chizmar
Published: Oct. 2026
Genre: Horror
Rating: 4.0⭐️

Synopsis:
In the final installment of the Boogeyman’s reign of Edgewood, Maryland, Joshua Gallagher has escaped from prison and no one can figure out how. Now, that he is on the outside, the public is afraid of history repeating itself especially since bodies are starting to pile up. Is Chizmar truly safe or should he fear his relationship with the Boogeyman isn’t what he expected? All Chizmar knows is, “it’s time” and Gallagher is evolving. Evolving into what? Only Gallagher knows.

Review:
Killing the Boogeyman was a great novel to finish the Boogeyman trilogy. At times I was wondering how Stephen King-esque we were going to get with Gallagher’s transformation, with him reminding me of Brady Hartsfield from King’s Mr. Mercedes books at times. I still think book two, Becoming the Boogeyman, was my favorite in the series based on its jump scenes, unpredictability, and overall unsettling ambiance but Killing the Boogeyman had its moments. Chizmar’s writing allows the reader
to fully submerge into the story, and almost feel like you’re one of the residents along for the wild ride. After reading the Boogeyman series, I want to give Chizmar’s other books a read and I can’t wait to see what he writes next.

Exciting news! 🐦‍⬛📚 My review of AMERICAN CROW by Ryan Burruss is featured on @cemeterydancepub!

An impressive debut blending historical fiction, supernatural horror, and the darker side of the American Dream. I struggled a bit in the middle but ultimately enjoyed it!

Rachel was fun to write! A fully developed character that plays a massive role in the protagonist’s life- devoid of any romantic element Rachel’s inclusion is illusory, cryptic, and ultimately…well, I won’t spoil it. 🤗

A few months ago, I pitched a column series to @cemeterydancepub that took readers through a crash course of 23 of @stephengrahamjones books leading to his upcoming OFF THE RESERVATION from @sagapressbooks. I was thrilled when CD said yes… and then I realized just how much work I had made for myself 😂

It was the biggest project I’ve been able to take on for years, and was so much rewarding than I could have imagined. This author’s works have come to mean so much to me, and it has been a true joy to write about so many of his books like this.

Head to Cemetery Dance Online and see: six columns, beginning with my recs for the SGJ Starter Pack, then moving through his slasher trilogy, nearly 200 of his short stories, all 12 of his re-issued Open Road Media titles, and of course his “required reading.”

Thank you @haleynewlin_author for being such a delight to work with on this 💜

I’d love for y’all to head over and give it a read! Link to the whole column in my bio.

And be on the lookout for more as I work on my OFF THE RESERVATION review and some questions I’m hoping to get answered by the man himself 👀

What’s your favorite SGJ book? Which one are you hoping to read next?

Bonus pic: a funny TOGI reference while I annotate my ARC of OFF THE RESERVATION 👀😂
