I just filled the last page of my first real songwriting notebook. The first couple entries are undated but the first dated page goes all the way back to 12/6/19! Unfortunately that ‘song’ is incredibly specific and completely horrible so I had to cross out most of the page.

The classic Moss Creek hit Ladybug was born and revised here as was the deep cut only-played-once Your Pick.

Most Tielbe songs were first recorded here including The House With the Deer on the Door, Little Changes, Empty Throne, Secret History II, Toy Box, and today’s entry that may become a track on the album I’m currently working on!!

The final entry I wish to share are my original thoughts on the first set of Center Mid demos I got back in May. A lot of those songs are the ones we’ve been playing on the road and it’s crazy to think back to when I first heard them and my relationship to them now.

My original plans, once I filled it, for this notebook used to be to transcribe all the good work and then burn it to destroy all the bad work. But I don’t think I can actually go through with that. It’s a history of my musical life from ages 16 to 23 and it would be a shame to purposefully destroy it. So it will sit on my shelf or in my many piles of books until I need a spark of an old idea or want to look back at my spiritual growth or just remember a past state of mind.
