TW: Hate crime, gun violence

On August 31, two beloved members of the Tucson LGBTQ+ community were shot and killed outside of Venture-N, one of the city's few remaining queer safe spaces. The incident is being investigated as a suspected hate crime, and authorities other LGBTQ+ business may have also been potential targets

The Center mourns the victims of this tragedy and encourages anyone who has experienced a hate crime or needs support to connect with our Anti-Violence Project. Swipe to learn more.

CRO - CTZ
A year ago today, I rode my first and last AIDS/Lifecycle. The experience was life-changing and I knew I needed to come back. This year, the ride looked a little different. Two new rides carry on its spirit. I had the privilege of participating in the inaugural rides of both @lalgbtcenter Center Ride Out and @sfaidsfound Cycle to Zero. It was incredible and I have so much to be thankful for:
1. @centerrideout & @cycletozero - Thank you continuing the legacy of ALC and creating spaces for the love bubble to live on.
2. Chain Gang – We showed up! Thank you for being such an amazing group to train and ride with.
3. @claytonyeung & @mrsamelucas – I had so much fun organizing and running Chain Gang training with you two. We pulled off something pretty cool!
4. @augusto_j_f_4 - You were my first TRL! Riding into the finish with you and Chain Gang this year (and last) was very special.
5. @doreencgonzales - Thank you for being the best, for always watching out for me and taking care of me and everyone in this community.
6. @jerhob – Thanks for inviting me onto Lavender Scare and for crazy adventures whether they’re on a bike or at a rave.
7. Lavender Scare – I love our CRO team! All rides need to end in a wine down.
8. Outspoken - You all make me proud to wear the kit. Glad I got to ride CTZ with you all!
9. Riders - Thank you for riding. @moncar.2 for being my CRO century-crushing buddy, @aralosangeles, for lending me your bike and shoes, @arieatworld for pulling me through CTZ Day 2! I’m amongst incredible company.
10. Roadies & Crew – Thank you for all your incredible hard work making these rides possible.
11. @_alexandfriends – My favorite roadie. I’m glad I got to do this with you.
12. Sweeps – Thank you for the many times you saved me: Nice Cream (Jocelyn & Christen), Lumberjack (Alex & Dan), Coach (@bass0929 & Trevor), Mrs. Roper (Chris & Greg), Butterfly (@thaliadlt & Dean).

We are aware that many ALC community members received an email about a new cycling event from SF to LA. This email misrepresents the event’s relationship to AIDS/LifeCycle and we wish to make clear this event is not a continuation of AIDS/LifeCycle.

Cycle to Zero and Center Ride Out are the official legacy events of ALC, benefitting San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Los Angeles LGBT Center, respectively. Registering and supporting these events is the best and only way to continue the mission of the Love Bubble.

During these challenging times, it is important that organizations are working together to care for our communities. It is disappointing and telling that any new ride would seek to capitalize off of and misrepresent their event as a continuation of our 30 year history. We are uncertain of how our ALC email lists were secured by this entity, but please know they were not provided by our organizations. We also are unaware of any meaningful connection this new event has to California or HIV/AIDS organizations here.

We were THRILLED to team up with the Los Angeles LGBT Center as the official eyewear partner of their inaugural Center Ride Out!!! From April 24–26, hundreds of cyclists and volunteers rode nearly 300 miles from Los Angeles to San Diego in support of the Center's mission. Center Ride Out was about more than just miles—it was about community, joy, and showing up for LGBTQ+ people who count on the Center’s life-saving programs every day. We were pumped to be along for the ride for such an important cause!!! 🚲

DJing and cycling have always gone hand in hand for me.

Some of my very first gigs were Team BOB BBQs and AIDS/LifeCycle fundraisers, so three years later, being trusted as the Resident DJ for the inaugural @centerrideout was a true full-circle moment. 🚴‍♂️

Grateful for the people who have ridden by my side (and danced directly in front of me) through all the good times and bad transitions. 😝
