I am truly so amazed I’ll get to play these songs that mean so much to me with such an incredible band on NOV 7 at @healingforcerecords.

most of you, my dear friends here in LA, would be people I’d put on the guest list - but since that’s most of you I’ll just say it’ll be worth the 20 bucks, I promise. we are going to make such nice sounds and at least one heart will be poured out, probably more, and hopefully we’ll all feel a little more alive like if we’d watched a really good kinda sad kinda happy movie.

we’ll miss you @cereusbright and @williamwild I can never thank you enough for how much our time together making this music meant to me and I can’t wait to finish it someday!!

@danahalferty thanks for getting all this footage and being fun to laugh with 💛

recognize anyone…? here’s some of what the trip to Mexico City looked like beyond the birds. thanks to everyone for being so kind—the collab camp experience was definitely outside my comfort zone, and I felt very shy a lot of the time. I learned a lot from seeing how other people work, and I’m stunned at how much other people managed to accomplish in such a short amount of time.

a few side quests I went on: tracking down vegan conchas (and photographing them dramatically with the spotlight in my hotel room), visiting the Museo Frida Kahlo (in her incredible home), and very briefly seeing the Biblioteca Vasconcelos and the ruins of the Templo Mayor (the main temple of Tenōchtitlan, now Mexico City).

I also saw a lot of sweet dogs.

and (perhaps most importantly) a LOT of birds (but you can see my other post about that)

My album Touchy is out June 6th. Swipe to see the people and places who made it possible.

I started this record as an attempt to make something different and to figure out how to love making music again. Scheduling it in for an hour a day, it was also part of a master plan to get my life back on track. I worked really hard for about 2 months, concepting all the songs in my Austin, TX shed and then driving my whole studio cross country to Zorthian Ranch in Altedena, CA to finish it.

It definitely didn’t set my life any straiter but ill never forgot the realization while working on it that I can literally do anything I want with art. That’s what it was, anytime I couldn’t muster the energy to work on it I would remember that there are no rules and I can get 10 mins of people playing bongos mastered if I choose.

After the last session my life turned upside down (more on that later maybe?) and these songs sat for a long time. I didn’t know what to with it, I thought they were demos and working on them felt uncomfortable and confusing. Ultimately all I had to do was call it done! Im very proud of it. Pre save links in bio
