this song is about two friends and at some point or another i have been both of them—the girl in the sunnies unbothered with her bubble gum and the girl crying over a boy. i think i’ve been both in the same day actually…whichever friend you are, i hope you laugh and dance to this one. xx

This is late. But it’s me, so no surprise there. Last month I had the opportunity to live a dream. My dad has been working in Israel for the last six months and blessed me with the chance to visit. I sat around cafés reading and writing, strolled the streets of Haifa for hours, looked over Armageddon, and pretended I was Russell Crowe in Roman ruins. I drove along the Sea of Galilee with the windows down, ate the best shawarma I’ve ever had, hiked a mountain at 4 am, and watched the sunrise over the Dead Sea. I cried. Then, I floated in it. I found myself in Jerusalem during Ramadan, read Acts 2 in the upper room, prayed at the Western Wall, and walked where Jesus walked. I took two flights to land in Egypt, rode a camel around the pyramids, cruised on the Nile, read the Alchemist, and got the worst sunburn I’ve had in awhile. I walked through halls built 4,000 years ago, met mummified crocodiles and kings, traced my hand through hieroglyphics, and took a taxi in Cairo. I dare you to take a taxi in Cairo. I was haggled by merchants. I was enchanted by a little girl’s smile on the back of a motorcycle. I witnessed hate. I witnessed love. I tried to capture it. I roamed the desert. I said no to a marriage proposal. I saw the moon from a new perspective. I was surrounded by religion and tradition contrary to my own. I was lifted. I was humbled. I took ten flights altogether, slept nine hours on the one home and I would do it all again—minus the sunburn. So thank you, Dad, for the memories I’ll keep forever. I am so grateful. 🇮🇱🇪🇬♥️
