POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One of my favorite things and prolly biggest influences is garbage pail kids! I love the combination of gross silly clever humor plus good art! Something I’m hopefully trying to do with my art.

Recently I’m leaning into more of my love of gpk again and doing my versions of them. Lots of stuff I’ve been working on in my spare time. 😎

Back in 2015 I had a kick of drawing live caricatures as gpk then I kinda just stopped. But I’ve recently this past month started doing them again! Before I post those I thought I’d post those old ones, many which were also collabs.

I end it with a sneak peek at one I did yesterday. So far I’ve done 19 new ones! Stay tuned! 🤡

It was an honor to meet every one of you this past summer at the University of Hartford’s MFA program. I have been waiting my whole life to do so, and look forward to many more creative experiences together.

Women (and two men!) made history this week! 📚✨ Here are this week’s historical picture books, including two content considerations to keep in mind.

👹 She Made a Monster: How Mary Shelley Created Frankenstein by Lynn Fulton
Illustrated by Felicita Sala @felicita.sala
Content consideration: I believe this book has strong historical value, but some of the illustrations may be scary for younger children. I recommend it for ages 7 and older.

🐴 Chico by Sandra Day O’Connor
Illustrated by Dan Andreasen

🎬 Candace Center Stage by Candace Cameron Bure @candacecbure
Illustrated by Christine Battuz

🏒 Breaking the Ice: The True Story of the First Woman to Play in the National Hockey League by Angie Bullaro @angiebullaro
Illustrated by C. F. Payne @cfoxpayne

👩🏼‍🍳 The Fabulous Fannie Farmer by Emma Bland Smith @emmasmithsf
Illustrated by Susan Reagan @susan_reagan

⚪️ The Missing Piece by Shel Silverstein

🌎 Sir Francis Drake: His Daring Deeds by Roy Gerrard
Content consideration: Two pages contain illustrations of undressed men from behind.

i present to you... pig

did not like how it turned out initially but now that im looking at it again it's quite alright actually (the feet ended up being not the same size so it doesn't stand well and also looks like ham)

he has been inspired by... (scroll)

ive been so obsessed with this page recently and really wanted to recreate one of the drawings. i think it looks somewhat close though my piece definitely lacks the exaggerated roundness that i really wanted to capture

also inspired by this sweet potato that also looks like it could be a big fat mouse

guys he's asking if you've got any games on your computer

I wanted to share a little behind the scenes info about the visual essay I wrote and illustrated. For the past two years, while juggling client work and teaching responsibilities, I’ve been working towards my MFA in Illustration at the University of Hartford. “The Space We Make for Each Other” was one of the projects that ended up being part of my MFA thesis and thesis exhibition.
Being a student again, after so many years of teaching, has been such a pleasure and privilege. It has been wonderful to have the space to reconnect with work that is meaningful to me, and to be fully immersed in an environment with peers and educators who share similar interests.
Thank you @cfoxpayne @lcgdesign @billthomsonart @carolfschwartz and all the fantastic professors i had the opportunity to learn from during my time at Hartford’s @illustrationMFA - and of course my incredible cohort. 🫶 I’ll be sharing more of the process behind the work soon!

A selection of paintings by @cfoxpayne ⬜️

What if animals took the shape of the states they belong to?

Christopher Payne transforms state birds and cattle into their corresponding state outlines — turning familiar animals into playful, surreal silhouettes.

Here’s my tribute drawing to the Illustration Hall of Famer, @cfoxpayne upon his conclusion of being the Director of the @illustrationmfa . I have always said he is the love child of Norman Rockwell and Mad Magazine and I was lucky to have him in ‘91 at Syracuse and ‘22-‘24 @hartfordartschool . I always wanted to bask in the glow of his love of the “Game” of illustration . I am truly grateful and happy to have been around him and to listen to his lectures and try weird food and drinks from Exotic Ohio. Sir, I wish you endless time for drawing enjoyment , baseball stuff and family time as a Grandpa. #illustration
