I enjoyed attending this year’s Connecting Minds (DKZ Conference) at UNLV and spending the day learning from fellow clinicians, educators, and students in the mental health community📚🧠🤍

I left with valuable insights on the evolving role of AI in therapy, trauma informed Solution Focused Brief Therapy, attachment based approaches in individual treatment, and ethical consultation and release of information practices.

As a @cftunlv alumni, it was special to be back on campus, reconnect with the community, and invest in continued learning and growth as a therapist 😊

Sam Richardson, LMFT, owner of Las Vegas Therapy (LVT), joined as a guest speaker to share insights on Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and ways clinicians can integrate this approach into their work with clients.

Thank you to everyone who put together this year’s Connecting Minds (DKZ Conference) at UNLV! Also shoutout to our student therapists at LVT who helped put this together for our community!! 🧠📚

Everyone starts somewhere, and I’m so grateful for the mentors, supervisors, and my graduate program (@cftunlv) that have guided me along the way.

Therapists never stop learning:

1️⃣ Supervision & peer feedback
2️⃣ Continuing education & specialized training
3️⃣ Staying updated with research & new techniques
4️⃣ Self-reflection & personal growth

Every step helps us grow and better serve others!

(My content is about sharing knowledge, bringing humor, providing resources, and relatable about mental health/ personal growth/ being a therapist, but if you’re struggling, remember social media isn’t therapy. 🫶 Talking to a professional can make a real difference, and a good place to start is psychologytoday.com @psych_today
to find a therapist near you 🤍

UNLV @cftunlv student and DKZ member Mariam Casey is currently conducting a research study to understand the experiences of first-time Muslim fathers.

She would really appreciate your help in spreading the word so we can get participants for the study, which will, in turn, help us gain knowledge on how we can provide mental health aid to the Muslim population.

Please see the attached flyer and share it with those who might be interested in participating in the research study. If you are interested in participating, please email Dr. Brandon Eddy at: Brandon.eddy@unlv.edu or Mariam Casey at: caseym1@unlv.nevada.edu
