🌿 MEET THE COMMUNITY 🌿

Meet Jaixia, a multidisciplinary artist working across song and textile art, based in London, UK. Through making, she loves to explore stories that might otherwise go untold—particularly those of women, the global majority, and the land.

Jaixa’s creative path began with a longing to understand her grandmother’s Windrush journey from Jamaica to England in the 1970s. As her grandmother’s memories faded, fragments resurfaced—jumbled text, old photographs, puzzle pieces—becoming threads in her prints and textile work.

Rooted in heritage and inspired by books that hold memory, poetry and testimony, Jaixa invites others to connect with their own ancestral stories through workshops, music, and craft.

Lately, she’s been deepening her relationship with the earth—growing dye plants in a community garden and attuning to the rhythm of the seasons 🌱

“Finding community through Woven Women has been deeply fulfilling. It’s heartwarming to connect with others on a similar path—seeking to root more deeply in the earth and share their gifts with the world.”

✨ Her current obsession? Printing with foraged plants: “It feels like capturing a plant’s true aura.”
