Course Description:
Develop essential background design skills for animation production with Robert St. Pierre! This introductory class explores the visual development process of designing sets and props for animation production. Weekly lectures and assignments cover essential topics such as research, style exploration, and the creation of comprehensive style guides. This is a must-take class to learn the key skills needed for a professional animation background design position.

Robert St. Pierre is a Production Designer and Visual Development Artist recognized for his stylistic versatility and his ability to design sets with a rigorous technical perspective. His extensive career includes major projects such as "Space Jam," "The Princess and the Frog," and "Star Trek: Prodigy."

For this M.M., I’m revisiting this final piece for my Animal Drawing class (which was also instructed by @thesketchexperience at @cgmasteracademy , once again I’m imploring anyone interested in art education to check his work out 😂). Anyway, the assignment was to make a black and white render of two creatures, whether it be mammal, amphibian, aviary or dinosaur. I’ll be posting the second render from the assignment in a few weeks, so stay tuned! Even though I think my hierarchy of detail has improved in the two years since I’ve worked on this, I’m still very proud with how this piece looks today.

After a long time without posting anything, I’m back with the project I’ve dedicated the most time ever in my life, a reinterpretation of “Young Lady With The Shiner” by Norman Rockwell.
In this project, I’ve spent in the free time of my last months, along with a lot of hope, happiness, sadness, and above all, passion. All these feelings and emotions are reflected in this piece, and I believe these things cannot be conveyed by any image generated by someone who isn’t a human being.

Ever since I first saw this piece by Rockwell, it conveyed something that few works do, the innocence, the rebellion, the nostalgia it transmits, it is incredible! I wanted to reinterpret it and give it my own perspective. I know it’s not perfect, that it has flaws, but I wanted to honor my favorite Rockwell piece.

I started this project during the “Grooming for Animated Characters” course at CGMA | Computer Graphics Master Academy, where I learned a lot about grooming in Houdini. Many thanks to Andrew Pettit for all the help with the girl’s hair.

For this project, I used Renderman for the first time, and I loved the experience with this render engine. I’ll definitely use it for my future projects! I’ve also used Houdini, Maya, Adobe Substance Painter, Zbrush and Marvelous Designer.

- The Heroine #preview

Hope you're doing well y'all.

I've been lately doing some housekeeping & cleaning over the portfolio mostly brushing off projects done during the Superior Degree on Videogame Design, this time focusing on highlighting the projects that came out of that initial experience which, while enriching, nowadays the seem too lack luster specially towards the proffesional path that there's been striving for since the College year back in 2024 ended.

I'm too moving sky & ground to promote this projects too on #TheRookies so besides in #ArtStation, a chance could be given too on the well-known up and coming digital artist contest, hence the slow advance towards the Portfolio cleanup. For now, I'd leave you with an small andvance on a project done one year prior under the tutelage of once again Sergio Hualde. One that would be too published on the aforementioned #rookieawards2025 along with other 6 projects.

Here's a batch of beauty renders involving my last project I did with @sergio_hualde .

Though it was at some point frustrating not reaching the point that was being pursued, it was too at some point glad to see the result the latest artworks are getting. The Marmoset renders were held at such an ease that even as the originator, there could be felt some flabbergastment upon knowing that unlike the bronze looking ones from KeyShot, those were done in the very last minute, and where able to achieve a result that normally in prior projects would dwell onto three or two days tweaking with the materials & lightning options. So, looking back, I'm glad of this project. Stay tunned.

I'm still yet planning though the TheRookies contest takeover. I'm yet now thinking on how I'm gonna exhibit this year artwork and hopefully, I'll get more Hi-Fi than last year. concept art is by Alexandr Komatov on @artstationhq .
