What a summer. What a family. What a God.
My prayer all throughout high school was that God would give me a community of people that felt like home. Little did I know that He would provide that, and so much more. He gave me a community that was not only welcoming and loving, but that has, over the past three years, become my family. He gave me WC Students: a program that loves its students so deeply and has been so lovingly grown under the direction of @mrs_flojo, @floydanthoney, @bella_briseno and @loomisgrant

From being a student under the care, love, and leadership of so many amazing adults, to becoming that same kind of leader for middle and high school students, this program has shaped me in so many ways. It has strengthened my faith and relationship with Christ while providing me with opportunities to share what He has taught me with others. And this summer, He gave me an extra special opportunity, to get to give back to the program that had given me so much. I got to work for the church as an intern, surrounded by my favorite people, taking kids on mission trips, working with them on Sundays, and walking alongside them in their own faith journeys. We got an incredibly special group of middle schoolers on our mission trip back in June who had such strong faith in the Lord at such young ages. I will forever hold a special place in my heart for that trip. And we just finished our high school mission trip, where I got to lead a group of girls I’ve known since they were in middle school and who are now going into their sophomore year. What a special gift it is that I get to watch them grow during one of the most transformative periods of their lives.

If someone had told 16-year-old me that not only would I have a home in WC Students, but that I would get to continue growing my family with the four amazing other interns I got to spend my summer with, I wouldn’t have believed you. I wouldn’t have believed that God’s plan could have been THAT good. But here we are. I have so much love in my heart for every single person I got to spend this summer with, and an infinite amount of love for the One who made it possible.
