240 miles. One trail. One big reason to do it.
•
Next week, I’m taking on a 240-mile unsupported FKT attempt on the Katy Trail. But honestly, this project has never really been about the record.
•
It’s about mental health.
•
We’re doing this project to raise awareness and funds for CHADS Coalition for Mental Health, an organization doing incredible work in our youth community, helping young people navigate mental health struggles, giving families resources, and, most importantly, helping people know they’re not alone.
•
The fundraising side of this project is going to be incredibly important. If this ride can help CHADS reach more kids, support more families, or make even one person feel like they have somewhere to turn, then every mile will be worth it.
•
This project also wouldn’t be possible without some pretty incredible people.
•
Pattie, my wife and my biggest supporter. You’ve been there through every crazy idea, every long training day, and everything in between. I couldn’t do this without you.
•
John, thank you for connecting me with CHADS, but even more than that, thank you for being there for me when I really needed someone. Especially after losing my dad. That connection means more to me than I can put into words, and it’s a huge part of why this project is so personal.

James, Elise, and the entire crew at SBR, thank you for taking a completely ridiculous idea and building the Franken Bike that is going to carry me 240 miles down the Katy Trail. 😂 Without you guys, this project simply wouldn’t be possible.
•
And Ricky, thank you for being along for the ride and helping us document this whole thing. I’m excited to see what we’re able to create together.
•
There are a lot of moving parts to this project, but at the center of it is something much bigger than cycling.
•
Mental health matters. Asking for help matters. Showing up for people matters.
•
If you’re able to donate, share the project, or simply follow along and help spread the message, it would mean a lot.
•
240 miles is going to hurt.
•
But hopefully, those 240 miles can help make a difference for someone who needs it.
•
Let’s ride. ❤️
