I had the honor of being on the “The Cerebral Palsy Perspective” podcast with @daryltperry and @chadwillia1
where I shared a little bit on Hyrox, anxiety and my will to not give up.

“One of my favorite parts of this conversation is Kaitlin’s perspective on progress.
You do not have to start by working out five days a week.
Kaitlin started with one.
Then she built from there.
The same idea applies far beyond fitness.
Start somewhere you can succeed. Give yourself something manageable to work toward. Adapt when you need to. Keep showing up.
Kaitlin’s HYROX finish represents something much bigger than finishing a competition.
It represents discovering what becomes possible when you stop measuring yourself against everyone else and start building from your own level.” The LINK is in my BIO.

Meet Chad. 💚

Chad’s change is a shift in expectations.

He wants people with cerebral palsy to have the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of — without someone else deciding their limits for them.

Different doesn’t mean less capable.
Different doesn’t mean less ambitious.
Different doesn’t mean we can’t do hard things.

Sometimes, we just have to do them our way.

Chad wants to see more opportunities for people with cerebral palsy to move, compete, create, lead, work, dream and pursue whatever gives them purpose — with the support to find their own path.

Don’t decide our limits for us. Give us the opportunity to find them ourselves.

That’s Chad’s change. What’s yours?

Share it using #UniqueAndUnited and tag a local leader, business or organisation who can help make it happen.

When I first signed up to be a tandem runner for the @arcofonondaga 5K, I pictured it being an emotional experience, but race day turned out to be a lot different than I expected. The runners were so excited and happy to be a part of the race — cheering, playing music, and just genuinely excited to be there and participate.

@chadwillia1 and I ended up being paired with the same athlete, so we were able to fully share the experience together. Jenny was full of joy, and this was definitely not her first race. She was a regular! She cheered the entire way, and it seemed like everyone along the course knew her by name, cheering us on as we went.

It was a truly special experience, and I’m so glad to have been a part of it. 💜🏃‍♂️

"Doing Hard Things My Way started from my own running journey, but this event has become about something much bigger than me. It’s about creating an opportunity for people in the CP community to feel seen, supported, and connected, while showing that there is no one right way to move forward.” - @chadwillia1

We had a great time kicking off our 2nd Annual Doing Hard Things My Way 5K yesterday with a community run/walk in Portland, OR! Thanks to everyone who showed up, supported, donated, and helped us make this a special experience. 🤍

This crew was a mix of folks with cerebral palsy, healthcare providers, neighbors and friends who came out for a fun time! one thing I walked away with from organizing this event alongside @chadwillia1 is how important it is to show up for ourselves and one another.

Many of us are adults with CP who didn't have a lot of disability representation in sports or athletics. The term "adaptive athlete" is a relatively new one. By participating in this 5K and allowing ourselves to be seen, we're changing perceptions about what disabled people can do. Our aspirations are our own and we can continually surprise ourselves and others with what we're capable of!

So whether you're taking on this 5K with us, or signing up for another challenge, we applaud you for being bold enough to show up and do hard things, your way. We see you, and we support you! 👏

Cheers to everyone who's participating virtually with us this week — let's have some fun!

I did PR at 24:45. Emptied the tank for a good cause.

Thanks to @cerebralpalsystrong and @chadwillia1 for putting this event on.

Looking forward to seeing results come in all week long! 🦁
