Oh my gossh I /fell over/ when I saw these photos from @chainbreakersburlesque Atom and Eve show, and my first burlesque performance! YALL MY IMPOSTER SYNDROME WAS RAGING for weeks leading up to it, but I’m so grateful to have been invited and proud to have performed. And I truly couldn’t help but have a wonderful time feeding off the incredible energy of the crowd. Way to make a newbie feel welcome! I will *never* forget the reactions when I revealed my bald cap and Iron Maiden started playing, there was a man in the front row whose face was pure glee like a kid who just was told is going to Disneyland he was so excited- I don’t know who you are sir but your face is ingrained into my memory now. Nothing brings me more joy than being lowkey hideous in a sexy event. Thank you for having me and thanks for supporting me! It was an honor to share a stage with such incredible talent and kind humans. Thank you so much @appleboxarsenal for my new dating app profile pictures!!! Ur probably like y is she bald tho? 😂

"The Radium Girl" Bottle Walking Act. (just the clothed moments) This act humanizes and theatrically features the stories of the clock dial painters of United States Radium Company, their lifelong injuries sustained from ingesting Radium, and their struggle for justice in the American legal system. The majority of this "Uranium glass" (UV painted decanters) bottle walking act is best contextualized by my alternative work as @devdeveloppe, and can be found on that profile. Be not fooled by my grin and curly bob, this act is a real gut-punch. ( TW for those that see it in person) This act features 1st person narrative sources mixed into its final moments. A full list of my favorite documentaries on The Radium Girls and USRC is listed for free in my bio alongside other free resources on my Patre0n for further exploration for the curious. Costume, concepts, by me. Images by @appleboxarsenal for @chainbreakersburlesque in Austin, TX. #devdeveloppe #bottlewalkingshowgirl #bottlewalking #bottlewalkingburlesque #neoburlesque

The "Radium Girl": Bottle-walking burlesque act. Be warned beloved audience: Even though I'm smiling, it doesn't mean this act is a happy one. The "Radium Girls" refers to a group of young women who sustained life altering and life-ending injuries through exposure to elemental radium during their employment with United States Uranium Company and American Radium. The women most affected were clock dial painters, who were instructed to use a technique known as "lip pointing" to put a fine tip on the brushes they used. This technique caused them to injest the highly radioactive paint. Elemental radium is mistaken for calcium in the human body- meaning that radium was deposited directly onto their skeleton, often starting at the jaw, where exposure was highest. Many survivors fought for years in the legal system while USUC intentionally dragged out case hearings, hoping the women would be too sick to continue, or die before their day in court. One Radium Girl, Catherine Wolfe Donohue, famously testified from her litteral death bed in 1938. The Radium dial-painters had a profound impact on the American leagal system and won landmark cases involving worker safety and corporate accountability. Human beings that lived and died in agony due to corporate greed? Hashtag relatable. I myself, was part of a class action lawsuit against the industrial cleaner "Hurricane" which we were instructed to use without PPE such as gloves or respirators when I worked in a well-know chain store's warehouses. Sometimes, I get to make art that reflects human experiences that are deeply painful and relatable to the working class. I know that if I was working for USRC , I, too, would have believed what I was told. I would have wanted to play with this new "miraculous" paint. I would have dressed up with my friends. We would have played in it together, and we would have gotten sick, and we would have died too. "If you were to hold a Geiger counter over the grave of those poor girls, you would hear it click for another 1,600 years." - Kate Moore: "The Radium Girls" #devdeveloppe #radiumgirlburlesque #bottlewalkingshowgirl #bottlewalkingburlesque #bottlewalking
