august 24th @chainlettermusic enters the web🕸️

Chainletter is a producer that uses music to connect people through collective experience by creating late night wormholes. Whether they’re using CDJs or an unsuspectingly minimal hardware rig you can expect to be enveloped by their unique sound. Focused primarily on ambient and techno they use sequencers and synths to make time expanding atmospheres and wonky rhythms.
Dedicated to DIY they’ve been playing and organizing parties since 2012 around Durham NC where with friends they started Triangle Rave Committee a collective that aims to create safe dance floors for lgbtq people while raising money for people experiencing hardship including but not limited to incarceration and houselessness, while also giving platforms to local artists outside of conventional venues, typically under bridges and in the woods.

Chainletter promises late-night wormholes that envelope the audience in sound. Their DJ sets explore a range of genres between sweaty club tracks and sweet moments of nostalgia punctuated by their own productions that combine sequencers and synths to make time-expanding atmospheres and wonky rhythms. Dedicated to DIY, they have been actively involved in playing and organizing parties in the Durham, NC area since 2012 that aim to create safer dance spaces for queer and trans people, raise money for prisoners and other mutual aid projects while providing a platform to local artists outside of conventional venues.

Biproduct brings us 90’s FM synthesis, 00’s scuzzy industrial percussion, modern subharmonic sound design, and dense layers of visuals informed by decades in the DIY punk and noise scenes. During their improvised live sets, audio mangler Jason Tucker and visual artist Tyler Hallett abuse an array of analog and digital hardware to conjure a subversive industrial atmosphere, proper techno grooves, and avant-garde visual processing.

Rounding out the lineup with local dj and visual support from @nestor_patagia @_ezri_dax_ @xlucidreams @datacats

ÁLBUM PREMIERE ▸ Volume One: Research & Development

Research & Development presents our first compilation from 10 multifaceted artists throughout North America. These artists illustrate different elements of creativity and vision positioned within separate and intersecting spheres of electronic music today.

A journey of complementary sounds and emotions guide the essence of our inaugural release. From harsh and brooding to playful and grimy, Research & Development’s first release is comprised of dynamic atmospheres, punchy breakbeats, and leftfield textures that actively push against arbitrary genre boundaries. Our VA compilation is the first of many future iterations to come on our evolving record label.

We are incredibly grateful to the artists who contributed their tracks and to the listeners and dancers of Research & Development for supporting our compilation.

As a community-centered collective based in Chicago, we are donating our proceeds to The Chicago Recovery Alliance, which engages in community-focused harm reduction. Accessibility is also a core aspect of our ethos, which is why we are doing a pay what you can structure with a $7.50 suggested donation. Immerse yourself in this carefully curated VA release.

Mastered by: Alex Michalski
Additional Engineering by: Dan B Hood

Artwork by: Ole Mic Odd

Curated by: Research & Development residents - JS Alvarez, Shanti, Zona Cinco, and Dan B Hood.
