it’s time to get sappy.
The past two weeks have shown me a tremendous amount of lessons and love that I can’t even start to describe. Hugeee shoutout to @autumn.revival & @bigdubfestival for the healing bass, wubz n riddim.
I want to tell you something serious. What it means to me to be a clown. I enjoy being a clown because clowns get to say and do things other people might be too shy or scared to do. Not just to make funny jokes but to cheer up a stranger, maybe it’s making the homeless man a balloon to give to his girlfriend, maybe it’s buying the friend going through a rough time a drink, or offering advice to a friend. Maybe it’s giving someone a hug, or a kiss on the cheek. Overall, being a clown has changed my life. It started as a small thing- I’d play dress up in my room and sh!t- but once I met other clowns in the scene I knew I wanted to go with it hard. Being a clown brings me an incredible amount of joy and fulfillment I can’t recreate. I enjoy the most, to see lovely recurring faces at music events returning to a state of childlike wonder when I give them their balloon. Elements festival this year has officially marked me two years into clowning!!I am so grateful to my festival fam, they really are leaning into the paint too!! I would also love to address the gothic/horror concepts used in my paint. The inspiration is 80s black metal & as my clown skills have grown, I have started to lean into the idea of lightening up my look at least around children. I understand the satanic imagery can be upsetting to some people. I can also understand the use of fake blood being upsetting to those under the influence, as someone who has many friends who do harm reduction, my response to this is to get away from the person I’m upsetting with my own face as soon as possible!!! All in all, if you love me- I love you. I’m here for you, anytime. If you hate me- good :)
