Aaand it’s done. My very own studio space! Toby and Matt from @chalk_road did a fantastic job to the last detail and the space looks and feels lovely. Tomorrow will be moving in day and once it’s a bit organised I’ll share more pictures. ✨

Who loves a simple Green and Black colour theme in the garden? . Dark green foliage against black or deep-toned cladding, with maybe a hint of white is a striking combination every time, particularly in an urban setting. Tone the external cladding of your garden room or summerhouse with any fencing to unify. Dark colours will recede so again, ideal for smaller, urban gardens. And for summer, maybe a splash of colour. Swipe left to the end, to see more. . Consider a deep grey-black with blue undertones as an alternative to a traditional ‘pure’ black (Railings by Farrow & Ball is a perennial favourite and works well in different external lights - remember to use an appropriate undercoat for best results) or a dark aubergine, depending on your overall planting scheme. (Get a tester pot first and try-out on a spare piece of timber or ask your building supplier for samples. Remember, the ‘colour’ will change with the light, or lack of it, and overall scale. Avoid yellow undertones if you can.) . For added texture, consider a scorched timber approach rather than painted timber and use Shou Sugi Ban (or Yakisugi) external cladding (at least on the visible sides). For a deliciously wide range and individual choice of charred timber see @toastedwood_ An advantage here is the longevity and character that this technique adds to the cladding. .
