Was it worth it?

This post has been a long time coming.

Over the last 12 years, I attended 4 different schools and took a much less traditional path to get here. I struggled academically, changed directions more than once, and spent a lot of time wondering if I would ever actually find my way.

I also went through some very difficult seasons in my life and struggled with my mental health. There were times when simply getting through the day felt like an accomplishment. But with time, support, and a lot of work on myself, I learned that setbacks don’t erase your progress and that healing is never a straight line.

I eventually learned to believe in myself again.

In 2023, after 7 years as a Medical Assistant, I finally decided to stop asking myself “what if?” and go after something I had wanted since high school.

Nursing.

So I applied.
And I got in. 🥹Nursing school challenged me in ways I never expected, but it also showed me that I was capable of so much more than I gave myself credit for.

I actually waited to make this post because I wanted to see the whole thing through. I wanted to walk across the stage, pass my NCLEX, become licensed, and land my first RN position.

And somehow, I did ALL of that in 17 days.😭🩷

🎓 Walked across the stage
🩺 Passed my NCLEX
💗 Became an RN
🏥 Accepted a Telemetry RN position at UChicago

I became a nurse.

Mental health will always hold a special place in my heart, and ultimately, I hope to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I want to be able to support people during some of the hardest moments of their lives and remind them that difficult seasons don’t have to define their future.

I DID IT! 🎓✨

This journey was anything but easy. Nursing school humbled me in ways I never expected. Through many tears, anxiety, sleepless nights, missed events, 2 AM classes, long flights, the huge timezone difference, and moments where I questioned whether I would be able to make it through nursing school… I made it!

There were setbacks that made me want to give up, but somehow, I kept going. And after all those years of hard work, I can finally say…

YOUR GIRL IS OFFICIALLY AN RN! 🩺🥹

It was all worth it! Every tear, every late night, and every moment of doubt.

I am grateful for every experience, every lesson, and every person who supported and believed in me and helped make this journey possible.
