There’s no other week like it anywhere in the world.

Epicenter Week is the annual convening for women’s sports and the one week a year the owners, investors, athletes, and league leaders building the future of the industry are all in the same city at the same time. Portland.

From Aug. 19–23, that means live games from the @thornsfc and @portlandfirewnba , community events, the opening of the Kaiser Permanente Performance Center, and an invite-only conference, The Epicenter: Women’s Global Sports Summit presented by Nike.

But the week isn’t only about what happens inside the room. It’s about what happens in the stands.

Meet Ember # 26 (Rise From The Ashes)
“Too classy to be obnoxious. Too competitive to stay out of trouble.”

Ember is more than a mascot. She’s the living spirit of the Portland Fire.

A fierce phoenix born from the ashes of Portland’s WNBA legacy, Ember represents resilience, passion, and the belief that no challenge can keep a champion down for long. Just as a phoenix rises stronger after every fall, the Portland Fire have returned to the league ready to write a new chapter.

Why Ember:
Her name comes from the glowing spark left behind after a fire burns. Even when everything appears quiet, an ember remains waiting for the right moment to ignite again.
Just like the Portland Fire, that spark never died in Portland. Ember represents a legacy that refuses to be extinguished.

Personality:
Ember carries herself like a superstar.

She’s confident, stylish, and knows she’s the coolest bird in the building. She walks with swagger, celebrates with flair, and treats every game like it’s the biggest show in town.
But don’t mistake confidence for innocence.
Ember is also a lovable menace.
She steals popcorn. She photobombs selfies. She playfully argues with referees. She starts dance battles with fans. She “accidentally” distracts opposing teams during warmups. She talks harmless trash to visiting mascots and acts like every Portland three-pointer was somehow her idea.
She never crosses the line.
But she’s always dancing on it.
Whether she’s entertaining kids in the stands, firing up the crowd during a timeout, or leading the arena after a huge win, Ember’s mission is simple:
Make every fan feel the Fire.

Why 26?
The number 26 represents a new era.
In 2026, the Portland Fire rose from the ashes and returned to the WNBA. Ember proudly wears number 26 as a reminder that this isn’t just a comeback…it’s a rebirth.

Ember’s Rules:
Protect the nest, Defend Portland, Bring the energy, Never let the Fire go out, and to have a little fun at someone else’s expense.
